Last night the number of Support our Troops rallies scheduled beginning today SURPASSED 100!
Great work chapters and friends! Let's keep up the pressure!
Every FReeper needs to get out on their street corners this weekend and let the world know we SUPPORT the action in Iraq!! The troops and your country need YOU!

Things are looking very, very good for the Des Moines Rally on the State Capitol steps.
The veteran's groups have adopted the event as their own. Their top lobbyist is doing MC duties, and he has lined up the VFW color guard.
We have Congressman Steve King (one of the best new conservatives in the U.S. House) to give the keynote address.
Emails of our announcement have saturated the state...whenever we talk to someone, they have already heard the news.
The top radio station in Iowa, WHO, the 50,000 watter that serves central Iowa and carries Limbaugh has been touting it for 3 days now. I was able to go on Jan Mickelson's show this morning and promote it....he has the largest radio audience in the state by far. The local Christian station has also been plugging for us.
All four of the central Iowa TV stations that have news departments are coming, and we are all set to provide them with a place to plug into the sound system (it's called a 'malt box' for anyone who might need to know that). We have had several people step up to the plate and provide all the sound equipment we need.
We also have a group of Scottish bagpipers who are going to perform, and a really great singer who is going to do the anthem and also lead a sing-a-long as part of the program.
When the time is right, things like this can come together in a big way; and once again, I salute the wise heads with FRN who set out 2 weeks ago to do this on this particular day. Kudoes, my friends!

We've been redirecting hundreds of media requests for the last week! I've been getting about 20 per day. Unfortunately, we get quite a few from cities that aren't having rallies!!!!

Just got bad news for us, but good news for the DC chapter.
Congressman King was supposed to fly out of DC yesterday, but was held over for a 3:00 am vote. Now they cannot get him a flight into Des Moines. So he will be staying in DC and will address the Rally there.
Apparently something similiar is going on in the Senate, because Senator Graasley had to cancel his apperance on Iowa Press tomorrow.
Things like this happen. It hurts at the last minute like this, but we are still going to have a great event!
