This is the continuation Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Day 1- LIVE THREAD.

I'm not generally worried about public opinion and having lived in Connecticut (liberaland) am used to being on a different side than those around me. However, my fear is the world will not forgive our use of such overwhelming force. I'm not debating the correctness of our action - history will judge that and I believe in our cause. But PR being what it is today - it's going to be a hard image to overcome. Just my humble opinion.

McInerny says that Hammurabi division is SW of Baghdad at the Karbala gap. Other division is due S of Baghdad between the two rivers.

Others reporting that forward elements of the 7th Cav have engaged tanks.

I'm sad it's come to this and am shaking. Those A-10's - not my step-sons so far.

If it's any comfort, the A-10 is the most robust plane ever flown. It's designed to bring the pilot back no matter what!

The airframe can take a LOT of abuse, GF1 had a plane return with a 6' diameter hole in a wing.

The pilot sits in a thick bullet PROOF and explosive shell resistant bathtub.

Should my son (9 yo, now) end up in military aviation this is the plane I want him to fly...

I know; I refer many appeasers to articles stating how many innocents, especially children, die each month in Iraq. It's more than we killed in two months than we accidentally killed in the entire Gulf War.

Just you wait till we start to open up the WMD depots, and also all the prisons, and the torture chambers, and the Iraqis start to tell the story of living in hell for 25 years.....

Did anyone see on ESPN of all places last night, a story about how Uday tortured the Iraqi Olympians? It was horrible. One man had scars on his wrists and ankles where he had been chained to the walls in a weird standing position with his hands behind his back for 3 days! Another man talked about how Uday has a secret jail in thier Olympic headquarters that was about the size of an average hotel room. He said it would be filled with maybe 5-10 people for weeks at a time.
