Tommy Franks is just such a darn good tough guy name. I love it
It is! Makes me think about the Rudyard Kipling poem.

My heart is just heavy. I know it's the right thing and the Iraqi people need to be freed and we need to rid Iraq of WMD, but I feel in my heart the world will never forgive us. It was too overwhelming. I probably shouldn't be on FR right now - don't flame me. I'm just overwhelmed by what I saw. I thought the entire city was blown up and it felt like the world had ended.

I wish ALL the protestors would fall off the bridge!!! Preferably a bridge in Paris.

From transcript provided by goodnesswins, "heard various commentators comparing to Iraq today with WWII bombings...there is NO comparison, weapons used today have a degree of precision no one ever dreamed of...the overwhelming majority of the weapons have that precision....seeing that specific targets are struck...the humanity that goes into it to see that military targets are destroyed...done in a way and direction with a weapon that is particular to THAT target...the comparison is unfortunate"

Take Heart Peach. Rummy said that these bombs were very precision guided and that the assessment will show how precise it has been.

It is scary. I am saying prayers that include Iraqi civilians in them, along with the usuals. I don't want civilians to be killed. I'm hoping it looks worse than it is.

Though the explosions were impressive, those were very directed strikes, only hitting gov't buildings and saddam's palaces. The people who die each month under this evil regime can not compare to the few civilian casualties this war will produce.
To: Consort
LOL! That is not "the one", but works!
To: Peach
Calm down peach. According to a general commenting on CNN, it looked like we were bombing the heck out of the city of Baghdad but we weren't. Other than the palace most targets are outside the city limits. Lights in the city remain on as a signal to the people that we are not targeting them, only the leadership.
All will be well.

Well, you have a conscience and feelings. But, remember the world very well may have ended for those who have supported this evil regime. It has to be done to end the evil.

After typing how heavy my heart is that it had to come to this shock and awe, yours was the first post I saw at the top of the page about Barbara Olson. Given what I believe to be a link between 9/11 and Iraq, it's stiffened my resolve, even given the horrific bombing we just saw and the certainty that so many innocents died. Thanks for the reminder.

hey peach, I don't think anybody here "likes" bombing people but we all know it has to be done. Don't feel bad for not "enjoying" this. It's a terrible thing. Just think how happy the Iraqi's will be able to live.
