I think this whole war was wired by a CIA on steroids, and God blessem. Thank the Church amendment for handcuffing the CIA all these years.

It would make things a little easier, reduce the cost of the war, but I'm not getting my hopes up yet. Lots of rumor in wars.

"US is keeping lid on story for fear of mass revolts." We're probably not gonna see 'shock & awe', huh?
Our mechanized divisions are racing at full speed across the western desert on their way to Baghdad.
Also, I expect the C-17's and C-5's loaded with M1 tanks and Bradley's are stacked up over Northern Iraq waiting to unload. I guys are working their butts off right now, contrary to the way it appears.

as i've noted elsewhere, i think this is entirely likely. look at the saddam tape. assume that it is him. now watch his breathing. he's bad hurt and maybe morphined. he's either dead or within an ace of it.
and now there's the report that uday may have gotten his head stove in.

"US is keeping lid on story for fear of mass revolts."Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we hoping for mass revolts?

Even if he isn't dead they should publicly report that he is to the Iraqis people..the guy on the tv is just a double so don't listen to him..I think it will be all over for husseni

If this pans out, there will be a different kind of "shock and awe" reverberating throughout the world.

Is this story actually contained in your link (I don't see it)?
Or is it just something you heard?
Or what?

This news can't be made public yet because the Iraqi commanders are insisting that their families back in Baghdad be saved from certain death BEFORE they surrender. Once the news is out, it'll be too late.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-)

Rummy just came out of a briefing with Congress with a smile on his face, btw. He had his humor back, so it must be looking good.

The one thing I'm dying of curiosity about in this war, is what signals CIA will look for, coming out of Baghdad, as indicators that they got him.
When Stalin died, my father (rather presciently, I thought) had guessed at it well before it was announced, from the tone of the news releases coming out of Russia. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the CIA discussions of how to divine whether Hussein bought it or not. For instance - if he were buried in a bunker collapse, even his paladins might not know for sure, and CIA will be interpreting every nuance of their behavior in an attempt to puzzle out whether anyone in Iraq knows where he is.

No resistance? We haven't even attacked Baghdad yet. I'll believe this when I see it.

Yeah, Saddam is cat food. That guy they had on TV was a Saddam impersonator. Everyone could tell he was the "I gotta make the donuts" guy from Dunkin Donuts. I mean you gotta ask yourself, after Dunkin Donuts, what has that guy been up to anyway? It makes you wonder and brings up suspicions. You gotta keep an eye on guys like that. They lose their donuts and they go crazy Godammit.

Rumors of this all day on the news. I do hope it is true! Wow, would that shut up some of the doom and gloom crowd, not to mention, save so many lives!
