Fox ^ | 3/20/03 | Fox reporter

Fox news Washington correspondent says the Pentagon reports 3 missiles fired. Trajectory indicates 1st missile is a SCUD that was intercepted by the PAtriot

The 2nd missile was a Chinese anti-ship cruise missile that was not intercepted but missed targets and did no damage.

The 3rd "missile" was actually a light aircraft that crashed harmlessly in Kuwait.

I don't recall ever hearing of a land launched version of this missile. I was in the Gulf during Desert Fox in 1998 and never heard of this during threat assesments, although Iraqi Silkworms always came up.

...particularly since the Navy at that time did not have an air-defense target missile that could fully replicate the supersonic, low-flying flight profile of the SS-N-22.

I was on an FFG in 1983-1986, we shot at Vandals, which were old Talos SAMs modified to a Soviet profile, but probably ASM not SSM.

You're going to have to make sense before you can make a point.

Ababil-100 missiles. Nothing to do with the French. They fall within the criteria that the Iraqi's were allowed to have.

They don't. It's all U.S. propoganda and lies. What did al Baradei say about allegations of prohibited weapons..."misinformation" put out by the U.S.? </sarcasm>

Barely an answer. How about explaining this line?

How are we going to test our might against a bunch of half starved refugees?

You're a troll.

We are allowing the press to tag along this time. I am very leary of that. Those guys can turn the US citizens against the war in two seconds with their leftist propaganda. The first thing that goes wrong, they'll play up the futility of war and trash the military something fierce. We don't need second guessing on the battlefield, piped back home for domestic consumption.

Sunburns are a whole different ball game and have never appeared on the threat assessments for the area. Seersucker and Silkworm yes. The threat of Seersuckers prompted bombing of them back in 1999.

And that's just one target. Now, consider two, three or five of them headed at you at one time.

Personally I think just the opposite will happen. They will see first hand how our military operates. They will have nothing but respect for our professionalism and how we "play by the rules". The lies about our "terrorist tacticts" won't float now. Plus the reporters are having their butts covered by these men and women. It's going to be tough for a reporter to file hit pieces and then return to the people he expects to cover his rear. The old saying goes "keep your friends close, your enemies closer".

During the Vietnam war, the communications weren't two way. At least they weren't instantaniously. Today if those guys file reports from the field that are detrimental to our efforts, perhaps the troops will let them know what's what. During Vietnam they'd file reports from the field that were terrible, then get a free pass.

You just watch. Collateral damage is going to be covered with a magnifying glass. "Is this worth what we are trying to do..."

This is all impossible. Hans Blix found no such armaments during his inspections, it's illegal for Saddam to own such things and because Charlie Sheen said so.

But seriously, we ought to keep a list of all the things we find that run counter to the global propoganda against this war.
