Umm Basr is a town at the coast line of Iraq, ca. 30 miles south of Basra. British forces liberated them now. The first freed Iraqis!!

Last night it was said that the Aussy Senate voted to bring them home.

'bout darn time. Too much info was coming out and a few slips of the tongue and could just tell some reporters were itching to tell where they were. Also, the reporter on Fox who said a missile hit very close-by - seemed then the Iraqis would know where the reporter was imbedded with our military and could re-position accordingly.

Umm Basr is liberated. What's a Umm Basr?

It's a port on the Arabian Gulf on the extreme southeast part of Iraq. Umm Qasr is also an acceptable spelling. Liberation of ports is good - it allows direct offloading of ships full of troops and equipment, and, food and medicine supplies for the suffering Iraqi people.
