Incredible

I'm currently watching a MSNBC live stream on my computer of downtown Baghdad. I see buses and cars and people walking buy, waiting for bombs to drop. I can hear all the sounds too. Welcome to war in the 21 century.

I was wondering why MSNBC would put up this camera tool on the internet tonight if their reporters didn't know for sure that our troops are going in tonight?? Unless they get a kick out checking their logs and knowing that millions of people across the nation are staring stupidly at a martian-colored video caption with occasional cars dancing across the screen.

Was that a Domino's Delivery Car? Guess Saddam was ordering the falafa special...

To loud to be a jet.
I only get audio. Is the bandwidth tied up with too many users to get video?

Why don't you bookmark this thread then click on the link again later.
Or I have AOL and can just put the MSNBC media player on my favorites.

The prayers are over and the birds are awake for sure

They might just be testing out the link tonight to see how it works.
For me the novelty is in seeing and hearing simultaneously a place that's halfway around the world on essentially live TV.
It's the technology, not the content.
We have trafficams in this country all over, but having the sound added to it, really adds to the overall effect.
This was reinforced by the call to prayer.
If you think back to how novel it was to have Bernie broadcasting live with a night vision camera from Baghdad back in 1991 and seeing the AAA going off in the sky, this is just as novel to me except that after a while it will be like watching paint dry. That is, until the planes start flying and our troops start dropping in.

I agree totally. The call to prayer was surreal given the distance and the fact that I'm doing all of this over an Wi-Fi connection. Now I was hearing birds singing while my wife and I are getting ready for bed. Very cool. ;-)

"Now I am confused."Don't be confused. I just went to the World Clock to see what time it said and posted it.

Can you figure out the actual URL for the stream? I got it to work, but my IE/WMP version combo seems goofy on the full-screen version.

You can hear planes and bombs in the distant
To: bluecollarman
I hear it too.
To: bluecollarman
I think that's just wind rustling past the microphone...
To: bluecollarman
Bombs or wind against the microphone? For the record I first heard it at 9:04:30 EST.

LOL. Hell, I thought it was just my bad eyes. I've got watches with bigger viewing areas than that ittle-bitty, green screen. I didn't know Iraqis were little green men, but I guess they are. I'd have to get my telescope and set it up two inches away from my monitor to see anything.

I think it was more likely a camara crew guy bumping up aganist it or moving around rather than explosions
