Did anyone else hear the News Report on The Marine Sgt. on FOX news? He says INS deemed him to be of inadequate character to be a US citizen!
Marine was born in Vietnam and had some minor trouble when he was a young man, obviously the trouble was not serious enough to keep him out of the USMC but serious enough he can't be a citizen? Is there nothing we can do to help him?

"How is he not a citizen? If his father was, and he came over here, how can he not be?"
I do not know for sure but he may not know who his father is.

joining the armed forces is considered a good thing for immigrants applying for citizenship. The wait is shortened from five years to three.
The close nature of the armed forces would make it difficult for a "sleeper" to join and then wreck havoc.

The real thanks should go to bluecollarman. bluecollarman was the one that posted it. Btw, how is it that you get pic from TV and be able to post it on the computer? I see lots of people do it. But I have no idea how. Can you please tell me how is it done. I would love to do it myself in the future too.

My Dad joined because he was drafted, but once in he volunteered for the 101st airborne. My Dad knew about the evils of communism as his village was cleared by the Russians when they invaded Poland in 1939. He also got into some trouble as a teen in England. But to say someone who is a Marine Sargent joined for his own personal gain? WTF, the marines don't practice affirmative action. IMO anyone who goes out to defend this country, especially now in a volunteer military should be automatically made a citizen. We give citizenship to children of illegal immigrants, yet people who put their lives on the line aren't worthy? Remember this country was founded on the backs of people like this who fled tyranny to achieve freedom.

You didn't go far enough!
No one should be allowed in the U.S. Military that can't prove
at least four ancestors with Rev War service. {/sarcasm}

Does anyone know what the "little" transgression is that he committed?

I have an ATI TV/Cable tuner card installed in my CPU...then a RCA cable connects from my cable box to the ATI card and I can freep and watch TV on my PC screen. I can size the TV picture window to any size, capture video from it, or capture still shots. I can save the captures in may file formats. I have a large, flat screen monitor and when I full screen, it is much better reso than a regular TV. We watch more news on my PC than on the TV set.
ATI is only one brand and not the best--not to expensive. Check Best Buy or Circuit City.

Non US citezens have fought and died for this country from day 1! You are wrong on this. They are the epitome of the American Dream. They love the US enough to defend it without citezenship. Too bad alot of natural born Americans dont have the balls to do so!! Semper Fi.

Any man/woman who would put on a uniform to fight for this country should be given citizenship ASAP! Yet we'll let thousands of illegals into the country who will do nothing but suck the sapp from those who would fight and die and work for freedom and the USA...like this fellow.

ATI is only one brand and not the best--not to expensive. YIKES!! Bite your tongue.
ATI has dethroned NVIDIA as the best video card maker and their latest and best rated, the ALL-IN-WONDER 9700 PRO, is VERY expensive.
But the best part is that ATI has an entire range of cards with TV tuners, for all price ranges. I just got the ALL-IN-WONDER 8500DV for under $200 and recommend it highly. It even comes with a remote control (like I need another one of those).
If you are looking for a new card, you should look at one with a TV tuner, it is really convenitent.

he does not have the moral character to be a citizen. Did they confuse him with Clinton?
To: TomB
LOL..I just have one of the low end ones: ATI All-In-Wonder-Pro with just 3 numbers(?). I've had it for a few years now, so I'm sure there are better and the prices should have come down some.
My son is an IT Network Tech and he had problems with his ATI brand card..he told me next time he won't use ATI.
Mine has served me well. I would be lost without cable on my PC!
Note to those considering a TV tuner video card...you will have improved video performance on you PC..so if you've shied away from newer games, you'll be happy with the upgrade.

Are you paying any attention to the information posted? The man is about 30, he came to the US when he was 6 months old! Unless you think they're infiltrating moles in diapers, there seems to be nothing to worry about with this marine.
To: smicah; bluecollarman
I saw this too and immediately told my Marine about the situation...... he said he had served with several Canadians........
To: bluecollarman
I know we have Marines on FreeRepublic but INS bureaucrats? I don't think so. How about some higher ups in the Republican party - they could pull some strings, no?
Don't even attempt to say anything to the Demorats - they would ship this young man back to Vietnam to be with his "family" like they did with Elian.

As soon as he sees combat he qualifies for citizenship. Little-known INS rule -- anyone who served as a member of the US forces in combat qualifies. Barring, I suppose, some really egregious criminal background.
