Thanks for the thread and ping. Just one more reason Pep Boys will never again get my business.

I told them to take their business to France and that they could change their name to Manny Moe and Chirac.

Did PepBoys' surrender yet?

I did a search for Pep Boys and Reserves and Tucson Citizen and nothing turned up. I don't like posting repeats.

I question the veracity of this account. Servicemen are protected by the Soldiers' and Sailors' Relief Act.

Under the terms of this act, your employer must hold your job for you until the end of your military committment.

If you experience a cut in pay, your creditors are barred from taking action until you return. You then are allowed to resume your payments.

It was the same as at the top of this post: "Tucson reservist loses job when Navy calls". You had to of changed the title when you posted. No big deal though- it needs to be read by all.

It's not my intention to come to the defense of any company that fires someone who must report for reserve duty, but there is a larger issue here that must be addressed.

Over the last few months there have been a few behind-the-scenes complaints sent to the White House from various business representatives in Washington about this subject. Their primary complaint is not so much that reservists are being called up for active duty, but that the U.S. armed forces is operating under severely dysfunctional conditions in which many areas that used to be part of the military's primary mission are now being staffed almost exclusively by reservists.

Nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) units, for example, are comprised almost entirely of reserve personnel, with no full-time units.

One local U.S. Marine unit in my area has just been re-activated for duty even though they had just returned from a 12-month call-up that ended in December.

I live in Tucson, AZ and have shopped at that Pep Boy's and had some work done on some of my vehicles there. Never again. I also emailed that article to everyone I know in Tucson, all of who live on the Eastside not far from 22nd and Kolb streets where this store is. I am tempted to print out copies of the article and post them at work, also maybe post some out in the parking lot and near other businesses around their store. With Davis-Monthan Air Force base just about a mile from the store I hope all service people from the base avoid Pep Boy's. Most of the people I work with are veterans and some are reservists in the Air Force and some are Navy. I am sure they will take copies to drill and let anyone who didn't see the article in the local paper know.

What are you suggesting? That all the reserves be folded into active-duty?

Sounds like Minny, Moe and Jcak need a lesson in treating military people with respect.

Yes, you have to wonder what kind of legal advice this company has been getting.

I am going to fill out their internet form with my name as American Citizen with the White House phone number

Why not use the number of the local Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine Corps recruiter instead!
