COMBINED Live Thread: DC Chapter's Rally in Support of Our Troops / C-SPAN Live Coverage of Leftists
DC Chapter, Free Republic
Posted on 03/15/2003 6:23:04 AM PST by FreeTheHostages
Good morning. It's a beautiful day in the nation's capital, but the beauty is about to be marred by
Their leftist rally would be covered on CSPAN live starting at noon.
As explained here, here, their anti-American voices will not go unchallenged. The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic has invited all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us this Saturday, March 15, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. as we hold a patriotic counter-protest of the so-called anti-war march being held by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. in Washington, D.C.
I'll be staying at home, nursing a cold that has left me voiceless (hee hee, no doubt to the secret pleasure of many chapter members! ;), handling the live thread. Let's do a combined live thread on the C-SPAN coverage of the leftists and my reports from the field on what's going on with the Right guys, OK?
Today's early morning news, if you're waking up, is that some time before 10 a.m. on our local Channel 4 (NBC), our Chapter Warlord, Kristinn, will be interviewed on why we are expressing a support-our-troops message.
While professing to be against war and racism, the groups behind this march have strong overtones of anti-semitism and support communist governments that wage war on their own people and other nations.
The D.C. Chapter will be making a patriotic moral stand against the marchers' anti-Americanism and willful silence about the barbaric, terrorist regime of Saddam Hussein.
We will also be sending a message of support to our men and women in uniform fighting the war on terrorism overseas and on the home-front.
Survivors of Saddam's reign of terror, many of whom are American citizens, will join us to put the lie to those who claim that the Iraqi people do not want to be liberated and to speak out about Saddam's crimes against humanity.
When: Saturday, March 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: North sidewalk of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 15th Street and 9th Street. Meet at 15th and Penn. at 1 p.m.
Bring: American and Gadsden flags (large and small), along with signs bearing messages supporting our troops, President Bush, America and the war on terror.
Weather: Mostly sunny, temps in the low 60s.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

The 3/15/03 DC chapter Counter Protest had one representative speaking on KNX 1070 Radio in Los Angeles a few minutes ago. The announcer said the group was Free Republic, and then a woman from Free Republic spoke to say that they were there to support the President and our troops.
Way to go, DC chapter.

Some folks started getting really insulting about outr leaders, calling them terrorists and criminals. Now I have my disagreemetns with this Administration, but terrorists and criminals they are NOT!
At my instigation, some of us staarted chnting "Try that in Baghdad!" They were also greeted with "If you're the ANSWER, it must be a stupid question."
Their chants of "No blood for oil" drew first "Tell it to the French!" and then "Get some new chants! This is not the 60s."
When I saw a woman with an Iraqi flag, I hit her with "Burn it! Burn it!"
On my way home via metro, I was standing on the platform at Fort Totten to change trains just holding my flag, not doing anything else, and I got some really nasty looks from radical types on their way back to whatever cave they had crawled out of earlier in teh day.

Ok, I didn't know where to post these pics so I'm just posting them here:
http://w-04.com/FReep031503/index.htm
The first picture was me with an active duty soldier from Fort Lee Virginia who will be shipping out next week. I FReeped in front of the Willard Hotel from about 10:00 AM till Kristinn came and got us who were at the wrong place. Also, while I was there near the Willard, I got a surprise handshake and thank you from Gary Bauer (ex pres candidate). He was going into the Willard for a Family Conference. He saw me down the street and walked way over to meet me and thank me. Nice Man! Should have gotten a pic, but I was startled.

How about this one?
"Freedom is for everyone.
Not just for you."
And BTW, I miswrote a bit. They got the chant about "Get some new chants! This is not the 60s!" when they broke into that Commie classic, "The people united..."
Another gereat CD FReep. They're growing. And I was happy to see so many younger faces there too. I think our friends in YAF may hve helped. I even got an invitation from them (I am a YAF alum.)
BTW, I got interviewed by the student paper at Maryland and by Brazilian media.
For those who couldn't make it, we missed you. See you next time, and I have a feeling that may not be too long.

Great pics! Thanks!! Eventually, we'll have an "after action" report where we'll share more pics. It might be a lot later -- a lot of our DC activists are going to the Philly rally today, where they're projected to have thousands.
Oh, how sad I am that I was stuck home with a cold and couldn't see you all in action.
God Bless the patriotic people of this country.
