COMBINED Live Thread: DC Chapter's Rally in Support of Our Troops / C-SPAN Live Coverage of Leftists
DC Chapter, Free Republic
Posted on 03/15/2003 6:23:04 AM PST by FreeTheHostages
Good morning. It's a beautiful day in the nation's capital, but the beauty is about to be marred by
Their leftist rally would be covered on CSPAN live starting at noon.
As explained here, here, their anti-American voices will not go unchallenged. The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic has invited all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us this Saturday, March 15, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. as we hold a patriotic counter-protest of the so-called anti-war march being held by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. in Washington, D.C.
I'll be staying at home, nursing a cold that has left me voiceless (hee hee, no doubt to the secret pleasure of many chapter members! ;), handling the live thread. Let's do a combined live thread on the C-SPAN coverage of the leftists and my reports from the field on what's going on with the Right guys, OK?
Today's early morning news, if you're waking up, is that some time before 10 a.m. on our local Channel 4 (NBC), our Chapter Warlord, Kristinn, will be interviewed on why we are expressing a support-our-troops message.
While professing to be against war and racism, the groups behind this march have strong overtones of anti-semitism and support communist governments that wage war on their own people and other nations.
The D.C. Chapter will be making a patriotic moral stand against the marchers' anti-Americanism and willful silence about the barbaric, terrorist regime of Saddam Hussein.
We will also be sending a message of support to our men and women in uniform fighting the war on terrorism overseas and on the home-front.
Survivors of Saddam's reign of terror, many of whom are American citizens, will join us to put the lie to those who claim that the Iraqi people do not want to be liberated and to speak out about Saddam's crimes against humanity.
When: Saturday, March 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: North sidewalk of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 15th Street and 9th Street. Meet at 15th and Penn. at 1 p.m.
Bring: American and Gadsden flags (large and small), along with signs bearing messages supporting our troops, President Bush, America and the war on terror.
Weather: Mostly sunny, temps in the low 60s.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
TOPICS: Activism/Chapters; Breaking News; News/Current Events; War on Terror
KEYWORDS: answer; goodmorning; march15rallies; march15reports; wwp

I am plainly sick and on cold medicine, LOL, in case that's not terribly obvious from my last post. :)
To: FreeTheHostages; All
You obviously did not take my good advice since you are still up and posting. Please take care and get well soon. We have plans for you and you need to be healthy.
Hugs!!!

as if there was nothing new under the sun. Because for them, even if the most fantastically weird and violent things could become familiar or boring with repetition.I didn't mean that the repetition is merely boring, but that it has become tiresome. Many good people, who are stronger than I, can look this crap in the face over and over again, and not become completely disgusted with people like that. My patience is about gone. Since I'm not allowed to shoot them, I'll have to just stay away from them. My wife is more than happy to handle the confrontational role, and so we can attend FReeps with both of us leaving contented.
BTW, I hope you feel better soon.

My brother in California noticed the coverage online. When he asked where the hell I was - I had to confess I was the maniac in the Sadam suit. Thanks all - it was a great time!
From Yahoo news:
Supporters of the Bush administration's Iraq (news - web sites) initiative, including one dressed as Saddam Hussein (news - web sites), left, demonstrate as antiwar protesters, not shown, pass by Saturday, March 15, 2003 in Washington. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci)

Ok, Ok, I'm going to bed. I was just seeing what if anything the Washington Post did with us and I was also send you a little rally $ via Paypal per our discussion: convenient to link that off of www.dcchapter.com -- that convenience alone is worth the separate URL for the chapter.
To: Steve0113
ah, I'm sorry, I thought you meant tiresome as in boring. "disgusted" yeah, I can relate.
To: Steve0113
P.S. please ignore me, I'm totally weird on cold medicine! (as opposed to only a little weird without it)

You both need to go to bed and get some rest; I'm about ready to call it a night myself.
I have downloaded onto my computer all the photos I took today, and I will sort and upload them to the Webshots account in the morning. If an after-action report is not up by the time I have that all done, I'll post a photo thread and everyone can add their stories of the day to it. The photos are good; the subject matter (at least the leftist part) isn't.
To all my good friends in the DC Chapter, and to all the other good people who postponed their family responsibilities today to stand up for our president, our troops and our country - you are what makes America great. You are patriots. God Bless you all!
Good night, Angelwood. Good night, FreeTheHostages. Good night, John-boy. zzzzzz

We got the "Thank You" banner back for a week. The school is rotating the signs through classes, but we asked for a loan back.
It was a "big hit" as it were with the anti-war people. Got quite a reaction. Had the full Saddam rolled out, camo uniform, red shoulder boards with the "stars and peace symbols" as the rank and Saddam mask.

They then cut to a shot of me and my sign at the FREEP, which read "Students for Extra Credit Against the War." I was chanting "I got Monday off for being here." LMAO here, too bad they can't share in it because they're the butt of the joke.
