COMBINED Live Thread: DC Chapter's Rally in Support of Our Troops / C-SPAN Live Coverage of Leftists
DC Chapter, Free Republic

Posted on 03/15/2003 6:23:04 AM PST by FreeTheHostages

Good morning. It's a beautiful day in the nation's capital, but the beauty is about to be marred by

Their leftist rally would be covered on CSPAN live starting at noon.

As explained here, here, their anti-American voices will not go unchallenged. The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic has invited all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us this Saturday, March 15, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. as we hold a patriotic counter-protest of the so-called anti-war march being held by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. in Washington, D.C.

I'll be staying at home, nursing a cold that has left me voiceless (hee hee, no doubt to the secret pleasure of many chapter members! ;), handling the live thread. Let's do a combined live thread on the C-SPAN coverage of the leftists and my reports from the field on what's going on with the Right guys, OK?

Today's early morning news, if you're waking up, is that some time before 10 a.m. on our local Channel 4 (NBC), our Chapter Warlord, Kristinn, will be interviewed on why we are expressing a support-our-troops message.

While professing to be against war and racism, the groups behind this march have strong overtones of anti-semitism and support communist governments that wage war on their own people and other nations.

The D.C. Chapter will be making a patriotic moral stand against the marchers' anti-Americanism and willful silence about the barbaric, terrorist regime of Saddam Hussein.

We will also be sending a message of support to our men and women in uniform fighting the war on terrorism overseas and on the home-front.

Survivors of Saddam's reign of terror, many of whom are American citizens, will join us to put the lie to those who claim that the Iraqi people do not want to be liberated and to speak out about Saddam's crimes against humanity.

When: Saturday, March 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: North sidewalk of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 15th Street and 9th Street. Meet at 15th and Penn. at 1 p.m.

Bring: American and Gadsden flags (large and small), along with signs bearing messages supporting our troops, President Bush, America and the war on terror.

Weather: Mostly sunny, temps in the low 60s.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

LOL, I'm sorry, I'm on cold medicine. The honest truth? I've been waking up every 20 minutes and posting here and trying to stay conscious. :) BUT if you MUST watch this @#$@#, it will be rebroadcast on CSPAN at 8 p.m.

I must say hole_n_one has a penchant for capturing on film some of the nuttiest moments.

If I were to venture to summarize what my sickened body has been able to absorb of this event, it would be:

(1) Leftists are fewer in number and keep apologizing for that by saying "more buses are coming" and some people are stuck on the subway system (which was supposedly ground to a halt by their numbers, LOL)

(2) Leftists are definitely responding to mainstream critiques that they are anti-Semetic: they found a Useful Idiot who claims to be Jewish to stand up and talk about why he's all for them.

(3) They put on one person who identified himself as part of a "black farmer" group who spoke about the war without really explaining what the war had to do with being a black farmer. The MC summed um his appearance by saying, "And so the farmers are with us."

(4) The usual non sequitur. Shots of the crowd with a lot of stupid-looking college kids wearing what they think are Palestinian scarves.

(5) ABSOLUTELY NO IRAQIS. Fascinating. That's why the're supposedly having the rally, and yet all the Iraqis on the streets of Washington are with our group, giving media interviews in support of the liberation of Iraq.

(6) Someone from their stage apparently said women fare better under Saddam then in Kuwait.

"NO American flags"

When they pan the audience with the Washington Monument in the background, there is a stark contrast between them and the proud American Flags surronding the Monument. It's like these flags are defying these people.

NO denunciation of Saddam

Absolutely none. They spent a good hour focusing on what an evil butcher President Bush and our awful military industrial complex is. It's the military that gives them the ability to stand there and rail against it. I wish I could remember which thread has that pic of the sign

War has never ended anything except
Racism
Communism
Slavery
Fascism

New speaker advocating mass revolt.

My guess is that she was going to appeal to the troops not to fight or some such BS.

The last speaker marveled that several million workers around Europe quit working to support the war. As if they needed a reason.

Are you in the DC area? Which station is 1210?

Oh, the speaker just called Colin Powell an Uncle Tom. So sad. He has "Reverend" in front of his name.

Watch the network news tonight. Most of the networks will focus in on the one or two "average" Americans they can find at the anti-war rally while completely IGNORING the mental cases who are running this rally including that nutty Plymouth minister currently ranting on the stage.
