The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us this Saturday, March 15, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. as we hold a patriotic counter-protest of the so-called anti-war march being held by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. in Washington, D.C.
While professing to be against war and racism, the groups behind this march have strong overtones of anti-semitism and support communist governments that wage war on their own people and other nations.
The D.C. Chapter will be making a patriotic moral stand against the marchers' anti-Americanism and willful silence about the barbaric, terrorist regime of Saddam Hussein.
We will also be sending a message of support to our men and women in uniform fighting the war on terrorism overseas and on the home-front.
Survivors of Saddam's reign of terror, many of whom are American citizens, will join us to put the lie to those who claim that the Iraqi people do not want to be liberated and to speak out about Saddam's crimes against humanity.
When: Saturday, March 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: North sidewalk of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 15th Street and 9th Street.
Meet at 15th and Penn. at 1 p.m.
Bring: American and Gadsden flags (large and small), along with signs bearing messages supporting our troops, President Bush, America and the war on terror.
Weather: Mostly sunny, temps in the low 60s.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
TOPICS: Activism/Chapters; Breaking News; News/Current Events; US: Connecticut; US: Delaware; US: District of Columbia; US: Maryland; US: New Jersey; US: New York; US: Pennsylvania; US: Virginia; US: West Virginia

That's a weak argument. It's a different world now. Besides, why shouldn't we clean up our mess, if indeed we helped create it?

I don't think this is political. I don't think there's anything that prohibits you from standing on a side walk, watching a demonstation and holding an American flag. You would not be participating in a political activity.
That said, I'm sure that the CIC has plenty for you to do so you should be spending your free time with your family. 'Course they could come too. The Police in Washington keep things under control so real physical danger is pretty remote.

Gotcha, the DC Chapter's Warlord frowns on physical activity also. I say under my breath "Serenity Now, Serenity Now!" I generally try not to respond to their mindless chatter but join in the witty chants that some lead us in. It drives the lefties around the bend. But if you haven't been to anger managment training lately .... :>)
Thanks for your service to our great country and delay that anger management training till the War on Terror is over. Don't want it messing with your military mind.

Come one it's going to be a beautiful day to get some fresh air. We'll have lots of laughs at the left's expense.

Seems to me Joe Stalin was an ally of the US and Britain at one time.
Your comment is naive or specious at best.

Speaking of parking, I imagine street parking will be tight. Pay garages are available, but Metro is probably best.
The closest Metro stations to 15th and Penn. are McPherson Square, Metro Center and Federal Triangle.

The urgency behind getting rid of Saddam's regime is his refusal to abide by the truce he signed in 1991 with regard to WMDs. After 9/11, it became imperative to force the issue. That Saddam is one of the most brutal tyrants in the world only adds to the rightness of removing him from power.

Howdy
Good point!
If I may take your flawless logic one step further:
We have not enjoyed a condition of peace with Iraq for 12 long years, all we have is a conditional cease fire, not one condition of which has been observed by our foe.
There is no peace, and twelve years of labor has demonstrated conclusively that there will be no peace until saddam is removed.
All we have now is a war that is being fought by one side only, saddam's regime.
We either join the battle or lose, saddam has left us with no other options.
Those protesting for "peace" are struggling to perpetuate war.
Those supporting the President are the only voices crying out for peace.
It is simply amazing how the still functioning communist propaganda machine can cloud public debate with so much garbage, utterly unrelated to fact, totally divorced from reality, in service to a dead communist agenda that littered the last century with two hundred million dead human beings.
Enough already, the time for peace with Iraq is long overdue, let us disengage from the UN and do the job before our boys have to face the deadly heat of a Persian Gulf summer.
It is time to fight, to restore the peace so long deferred.

Thank you. We've been enforcing the no-fly zones since 1991. The northern zone has done the best under our protection. However, The south has suffered horribly under Saddam, especially the Marsh Arabs.
