These children are NOT "hostages." They were found *abandoned.* It would have been unconscionable to leave them wandering around Pakistan. Think of it as being in foster care, only they are probably being cared for a lot better than any foster child in the US. Not a hair on these kids will be harmed. If their presence helps US intelligence, so much the better.

Seeing that picture of Helen Thomas makes me think of the most sadistic torture imaginable. Force this guy to look at that picture non-stop and if that doesn't make him crack bring Helen in so he can look at her in person (Helen is such a big fan of these terrorists, I'm sure she'd be honored). This would be enough to make any normal man crack but if he wants to play hardball then have Helen disrobe in front of him, etc., I don't need to go into any more gruesome detail. Guarantee you the guy will sing like a canary or commit suicide, one or the other (perhaps both). Against the Geneva Convention? Yes. A war crime? Definitely. Degree of success? 100%.
