When will the Republicans start playing hardball and insist the Democrats do a real 24/7 filibuster.

My senator (Graham) is a chicken. He wants to lead the country, but doesn't even have the nerve to vote on a circuit judge.

He wants to lead the country, but doesn't even have the nerve to vote on a circuit judge. Good point. I assume you got the same response from his office that I did - a lengthy e-mail that said he was "recuperating," but gave no indication of what he planned to do about any of the many issues it mentioned, among them Estrada.

I didn't even get the decency of a response to my e-mail. When I called, just got the usual, "I'll pass along the message".....

I understand my congressman has called Graham inaction "cowardly" - but then, he wants Graham's job. The rest of the FL "Rs" in the House need to raise holy hell over this.

Good Morning.
To: Howlin
Sweet lady (but still, you ol
howlin dog you,), thank you for providing these daily threads on this horrific attempt by certain dems to destroy our nomination procedure and their dispicable attempt to crush the chances of a good man to recieve an up or down vote-his RIGHT and our President's right-in the full senate. I am ashamed of them all!
Today I take to the streets of Indianapolis at noon in my own attempt to inform my fellow Hoosiers of the creepy vote my own senator-that would be Bayh- made yesterday. I want to inform the working folks.
I have called his office so many times in the past few weeks simply to learn two things.
Yesterday I DEMANDED an answer. And astoundingly-his office in DC called me back early last evening with a response.
The questions I wanted answered:
#1-Has Bayh even bothered to take up Mr Estrada's offer to meet and discuss his qualifications?
#2-And has Bayh even proffered one written question to Mr Estrada since he (Mr Bayh) has said he was undecided and listening to the debate on the senate floor.
His staffer informed me that Senator Bayh has done neither.
I am disgusted and offended that someone can claim answers are not forthcoming when that same person had taken NO RESPONSIBILITY to uncover said answers.
Senator Bayh, IMHO, made an UNFAIR, DISGUSTING, UNINFORMED vote yesterday thru his own CHOICE to remain uninformed.
That is not statesmanlike, that is not senatorial in the least, and it is HARMFUL to our senate, our nomination process and our nation.
Today I stand outside his office and begin my quest to inform my fellow Hoosiers of what Bayh is doing.
Most don't know of this-the mainstream media is playing it down. But here I am going to attempt to change this-one person at a time, just like PResident Bush says we can change one heart at a time.
Bayh and other like minded senators are DEPENDING on their VOTERS being UNFAMILIAR with the horror they are perpetrating on our senate floor.
We can change this.
I intend to try.
GO MIGUEL ESTRADA!

My senator (Graham) is a chicken. He wants to lead the country, but doesn't even have the nerve to vote on a circuit judge. I'm waiting for him to recover from his recent surgery before I call his office to ask (and I want an actual answer) how a man who represents a party that fought to protect an accused rapist in the White House would now deny a job to a man with impecible integrity, and as a result, how Graham can claim he holds the country's interests above those of his party.

Good morning every one.
I am with all of you and have sent an email begging Frist to call for a 24/7 filibuster,or at the very least make them stay in session through out the weeknds so as to keep some of them from campaigning, that might help.
As long as the Reps. permit a few hours of talk on Estrada and call for a vote the Dems can keep this up until the next election.
We have a great President who has to fight the Dems on every issue as well as the war on terror. The least Frist could ask of his fellow Repbs is to lay on a cot and hold the Senate in session 24/7!

Hi. I will be bouncing back and forth between this thread and the one on Blix.
To: Howlin
This fillibuster has little to do with Estrada's qualifications. Rather, it is a powerplay. If the Democrats succeed in stopping his nomination, they effectively can control the Senate, even though they are the minority. This effort is about control. If the Republicans bend/blink, they lose--not only this nomination, but also effective majority control of the Senate.

Ignore the previous post I made. If I had read the first post I wouldn't have needed to ask. My mistake. It isn't the first and won't be my last.
