He looked like a guy who overdulged the night before and took a couple of bracers a short time ago.

I know the look. LOL

Thanks for the ping, Howlin. This Daily Telegraph article is interesting. I have been wondering aloud here what might be on Iran's mind should the US be in Afghanistan and Iraq. From what I have read, the resistance doesn't want military support (and this article doesn't indicate there would be) but just support. Knowing we were in the neighborhood would seem to be just the kind of thing they could use.

Okay, now I am off to read the rest of this thread.

I saw Helen, too.

Is it just me or does anyone else always take just one look at her and expect her to say, "Follow the Yellow Brick Road?"

"so being for containment in Iraq doesn't make me a traitor or disloyal, merely someone who wants some consistency in foreign policy."

You are taking some heavy flack on this and for good reason... For generations in the United States, the debate and criticism stops when the troops start to move!

First, if I had had the privilege of sitting before my President this evening as he announced that the man, strike that, the murderous barbarian fiend that masterminded the vicious killing of 3000 of our beloved citizens was captured I would have stood up proudly and cheered. Perhaps, that is not PC, or protocol, but all that be damned, I still would have applauded and if I got a chance to ask President Bush a question, I would have began with a heartfelt thank you to him, his administration, and the young and brave men and women in the military for standing courageously on the front lines in the defense of our nation.

I'm thinking President Bush confidantly raised the ante when he said "

"...it's time to show your cards."

After some very interesting conversations with people I know with close connections to the Middle East over the last 15 months, I've finally connected a bunch of dots. The final straw was the capture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in Pakistan -- there is one very interesting little item about him that most people seem to have overlooked. And another fascinating little item that I'll bet nobody here has even heard.

Maybe I'll post some of this on a vanity thread later, but for now you might want to do some research on a man named Mohammed Salameh. Let me know what you find out.

And it hasn't been explained to me why warring on Saddam is absolutely necessary for our security.

Do you not have ears to hear? Saddam has WMD that he WILL give to terrorist and they WILL USE THOSE WEAPONS AGAINST US!!

Bush is not about to let that happen and if you or any other person can not see this you are blind as a bat.

Tonight there is one thing I heard, Bush will do whatever it takes to protect us from terrorist obtaining WDM from Saddam and using them on the U.S.

BTW, WMD that Iraq agreed in a cease fire to get rid of, and all the world got is, 12 years of Saddam's B.S. games!

Does that make it clear enough for you?

Blix isn't just a fact-finder.

The real GWB vehemently disagrees with you and made that quite clear tonight.

But Bush disagrees - he says diplomacy and containment will work for N Korea.

Actually, Bush has said that all options are on the table regarding N. Korea.

Most of what we need to know about them.

Yeah, but it was Republican members of Congress who had the nerve to file suit against Bill Clinton after the U.S. had been bombing Kosovo for three months. That wasn't exactly a high point in our history.

"None of the hijakers were Iraqis - most were Saudis."

So what, Hitler was Austrian.

THis guy in Iraq has been funding, providing, etc. And when the war is over, and we aren't worried about exposing our sources, it will all spill out. Until then, I go with Dubya.

I switched over to MSNBC when Gary Hart came on Fox. Howard Fineman annoys me at times (he seems to be rather two-faced on Bush, first he likes him, then he's condescending), but I thought he had an interesting line tonight. As part of the discussion of Bush being "somber" and "determined," Fineman rather admiringly said that if there was any vestige of what some call "the cowboy" present in Bush tonight, "The cowboy was Shane." Also enjoyed Frank Luntz telling Pat Caddell he was letting his own anti-war opinions color his opinions as a pollster . (I give Caddell credit, though, I consider him one of the few "honest Democrats" -- he's even part of the "Recall Gray Davis" movement here in CA.)

I agree with you on the Murrah Bombing and having toured the Bombing Memorial and Museum everytime someone comes to town, I am even more convinced that Saddam had something to do with it. The guys convicted carried out the plan but they did not plan it -- between all of them there wasn't a brain smart enough to put the plan in action on their own.

So is FR a neo-con or a paleo-con site? Seems to me that national security is the only reason why I would support a war -- that makes me a paleo-con. The thing is, most international affairs on the scale of the middle east and Asian conflicts ultimately affect our national security. So What Churchill in the buff needs to be made tounderstand is that this war is in keeping with paleo-conservative ideals -- Pat Buchannan be damned.

Don't diss the Mexican immigrants

Try reading his reply.

It referred to Fox, not immigrants.

the debate and criticism stops when the troops start to move!

I don't agree that merely because troops are moving, you can't criticize the policy that's making them move. I was critical of Lyndon Johnson during the Vietnam war - BECAUSE OUR TROOPS WEREN'T ALLOWED TO WIN.

I was critical of Reno went she sent (domestic) "troops" into Waco, and into Elian's home. The mere fact that people wearing American uniforms or one kind or another have been sent on a mission doesn't mean I can't criticize the policy choices of those who have sent them.
