You don't understand the world situation at all then -- the UN meets tomorrow -- France has been all over the airwaves around the world trashing us and now it is the President's turn to be heard. If you think he has been heard around the world than you are absolutely naive. Our own networks don't carry half his speeches!

And don't you lady me!

I don't think Ann Compton is going in with the troops. She's rivalling Lisa Myers in the porketta factor.

This is THE FINAL BATTLE of the Gulf War. Why were we there IN 1991?? We were not attacked and the US was in less danger then of an attack on our soil than we are today. In fact, Saddam is likely trying to make deals with terrorists as we speak.

Pre-emptive attack is the wrong word to use.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may be even a worse fate: You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."
~Winston Churchill

I think Rush was right when he said that the mere fact that NK is making such noise is proof enough that they don't plan on attacking us. This is simply sabre rattling on their part. They will be dealt with appropriately in due time

>>Iraq is a sophisticated society?????

By the standards of the Middle East, absolutely. They are more secular than Turkey; women basically have full rights, people are highly educated.

"For freepers, it's because the book of Revelation doesn't mention N Korea."

WHOLLY CRAP! That is the dumbest thing said on this thread bar-none. You surely don't understand Christian thinking at all. You have no freakin clue what you are talking about. That is even more ridiculous than the "all about oil" argument.

The fact that you don't approve of me thrills me to no end.

I would slit my wrists if I thought the likes of you agreed with me.

Please provide a translator, because I do not understand what you've written here. All I know is that the N Koreans are explictly, openly threatening to wage war on us. But Bush says it's OK to respond with containment. Fine - - then the same response makes sense with Iraq - if it doesn't, I'd like an explanation why, not a cryptic undecipherable comment such as above.

Just like the Saddam problem, the Korean problem is an unpaid bill given to us by the freakin' United Nations. We should have taken Saddam out in Gulf War I, but our mandate ended at the Baghdad city line. Bush I did not want to overstep our mandate, kicked the can down the road, Clinton kept kicking the can down the road, and now the bill is due.

We were limited by the United Nations in Korea and could not finish the job. An unnatural state has existed for nearly half a century, the can has been kicked down the road for that long. A pre-emptive strike will be in order - but all in good time.

We can only safely do so much right now. Sure, we could launch a two-front war but that would cost many more American lives and see many more defeats in some battles.

Korea is on the list - they are to be contained until it is time to deal with them. We've got to quickly finish off the Saddam business and the OBL business and deal with Korea when it is wise to do so. Of course, Korea might use this time while we are otherwise engaged in Iraq for an opportunistic attack. We can only hope they won't and that containment will work for the time being.
