C-SPAN ^ | Sunday, March 2, 2003 | Kristinn

Posted on 03/02/2003 5:36:42 AM PST by kristinn

Shiver along with the D.C. Chapter, FReepers from across the country, other patriotic Americans and Iraqi exiles as C-SPAN broadcasts the Patriots Rally For America IV today at 1:05 p.m.

Recorded yesterday at the cold, fog-shrouded, snow-covered grounds of the Washington Monument, the rally held to support our troops, President Bush and the American policy on Iraq features former Rep. Bob Dornan, Aziz Al-Taee, Blanquita Cullum, John Armor, James Parmelee, Kevin Martin, Adam Ramey and yours truly.

Also featured are singers Cullen Martin, Stephanie Souders and, from Nashville, Lowell Shyette.

The program, if shown in it's entirety, should run three hours and fifteen minutes.

Get some hot chocolate ready, pop some popcorn, put on your red, white and blue sweaters and get ready to root for the home team: the men and women serving in our Armed Forces.

EAGLES UP !!!

Ha! You're probably some nobody weighing in from his web-tv set-top box. If you're really anyone of any real importance or significance, I dare you to come out from behind your anonymous alias, send me a private message if you like, and say who you are. Any coward can hide behind an alias and hurl insults like a common clod. So, put up or shut up.

Actually, I disagree that a specific goal is sufficient to succeed. Many youngsters in law school have the specific goal of being a federal judge. But there are a limited number of those fancy appellate clerkships and most don't get 'em. And that's when they fall off the fast track -- shortly after graduation. It's a brutual, abrupt division of paths. They then have no hope then of getting feeder jobs for judgeships, such as being Ass't U.S. Attorneys or the like.

Also, I know many judges who view the trial lawyers as having more say in how a case turns out: they're the ones that develop the evidence and shape the issues. Especially at the district court level, it can be frustrating being a judge, seeing a lawyer kill his or her own case by mistake or miss an opportunity. Ideally, the judge is just the ump. Some times I wonder why people aspire to judgeships other than for esteem issues such was wanting the "trappings of power." That post about "I'm going to be a judge and then you'll all be grateful to me" from that fellow sounded like that to me. My advice to a young would-be lawyer would be to seek out ways to acquire *real* power -- to make a real difference in the real world -- and not the trappings of power.

If you want big numbers, I'd suggest: provide bus transportation, give out free cigarettes and MD 20/20, and support Saddam.

If you want to support America, support our Awesome Troops, and be a positive force in this world:

- tell everyone about your event;
- line up a bunch of awesome speakers;
- get as many people there that will come;
- get TV coverage on CSPAN for a couple of hours
- teach other chapters how to do the same thing by example.
- keep negative people away if possible

Oh, you did all that did you? Then, great job. You might want to work on the weather. That is my main suggestion.

I say "HATS OFF TO THE DC FREEPERS"

"You might want to work on the weather" LOL. I'm not blaming the weather because losers do that (right after they blame the media). But gee, can I at least say just once it certainly didn't help.

Oh yeah I forgot one more thing that you should do:

- get positive coverage in the local newspapers which are internationally monitored.

You did that too? You guys are awesome!

I get it. You're important, and the rest of us peons just march around occasionally with pretty signs and don't do anything with HALF the competence you'd exhibit, if you only had the time.

BTW, shouldn't you be studying now or...something?

Just trying to defend myself. My only point is that I'm on YOUR side, i.e. everyone here who is conservative. I want what you want, and there are many different ways to achieve it. People shouldn't initiate assaults on their natural allies; save it for our enemies.

Great work, Julie! My order of these stickers just came in... I'm starting to hand them out to friends and family. I just wish they were a bit BIGGER so they stand out better!

Agree...the sticker could be a little bigger in length....however, we have found the most visible place to put it is the center bottom of the rear window rather than the bumper!

Support President Bush and Our Troops Stickers

How was my second question out of line? It's just meaningless trivia -- just wanted to see if you knew the answer.

Any coward can hide behind an alias and hurl insults like a common clod. So, put up or shut up.

LOL. What have we here? Back for more? :) Well, my preferred way of dealing with this isn't Freepmail. It's to repeat what you said. Because someday, if you're so brilliant, it might embarass you. I thought of repeating it twice, but you're young, so I'm cutting you a break.

"Importance" "Significance" Ah, you didn't listen carefully to Azziz's speech did you. We're all important members of humanity. As we fight for the liberation of Iraq, we do so from the high moral ground. And I'm as important as every single person who attended that rally and stood there, for the Right reasons, doing the Right thing. We are *all* important. The troops that are doing our bidding for duty, honor, country, and the people who give up a little time one weekend to support them.

Sigificant. That's a different word. Those that find some other way to help and be constructive become "significant" by making a difference in the real world. W.H. Auden once said something like: "The saddest words are these: 'History matters. What happened didn't have to, and what might have been wasn't.'"

You want to decide whether you're right based on credentials, LOL? Oh, I can't resist. I have to repeat your post again:

By the way, I haven't insulted you personally. The suggestion that you may not be correct in your declaration that you will someday be a federal judge and we will all be grateful to you is not an insult. It's part of the painful transitioning process to adulthood that accompanies the closure of extended adolescence that is the law school experience. Time will teach.
