. Amber met 31 year old Scott on a blind date on Nov.20th at the World Sports Cafe bar in Fresno. Scott and Amber were introduced by a girl who knew him from work, the girl thought that he was single, according to Ron Frey. Does this seem strange to anyone but me? He never mentioned his wife at work? What about insurance forms? Never spoke of becoming a dad? Lacie never called him there and said "tell him his wife called"?

I agree with you. It makes sense that the girl worked at the gym (where Amber worked as a massage therapist).Men and women will often not wear rings whilst working out (not comfortable when lifting weights).

Or perhaps he was getting a massage by this woman at the gym, another time where you take off all your jewelry. Perhaps she was married or "taken" but was impressed with scott and introduced him to her co-worker. It has been my experience that whilst getting a massage you will often have a conversation...similar to getting a hair cut. I can just see scott trying to appear single in his conversation. There is no better way to eliminate single females from your life than by saying you are married with a baby on the way...the other is that you served time for murder of your unborn child and wife...

He needs to go on the computer to learn how to make cement anchors?? This is a guy who, according to his father-in-law, Ron, was handy around the house?

I could make cement anchors, and I don't even own a boat, nor had I ever even heard of cement anchors till I was reading about this case! Let's see...duh...you mix the cement, pour it in a bucket or other container, and when it begins to set but isn't totally hardened, you stick your metal hook in the middle. When it's totally hardened you cut off the bucket, if you so desire.

Not rocket science. Why would he bother going online about such an obvious thing? Unless he wanted to bolster the story he was planning on telling by leaving a computer trail?

Sure--if you lost an anchor, probably that means you lost it while it was in the water.

But we have never heard that Scott had ever taken his (to him) new boat out before Dec. 24. So he lost the anchors on dry land? Hmmm... lost three big heavy unwieldy masses of cement. O-kay!

I can understand that it might not be unusual for a beginner to lose anchors. But if he'd never even taken the boat out before 12/24, it would be unusual for him to have already lost three anchors--while on dry land. And we have never heard once that he ever took the boat out before 12/24. (In fact, it's not certain that he took it out even then!)

Also, I'm not sure he's a beginner. The family says he has been fishing all his life.

Good thoughts. Also, how much you wanna bet that when they sold that restaurant/bar, they vowed to cut back on social drinking? It's pretty easy to just pour a hard drink or two every evening, when you own the whole bar. But it's a bad habit to get into.

Remember, we've seen a few pictures of the two of them in which Scott looked somewhat "hammered," as KneelBeforeZod accurately commented.

Now you made me think of something ultra-simple that the police could have (and almost surely have) checked. A fishing license. Did Scott have a current fishing license when police talked to him on 12/24?

We all know these can be bought at the bait store. Oh... whoops, aw shucks--we never heard that he ever WENT to a bait store, did we?

I thought so! The $4.00 fee is a little something extra, but a fishing license is pretty standard equipment, always. Well then, of course it shouldn't be any problem for him to produce it, now, should it? Maybe he kept it next to his Super Bowl key card.

I went fishing on the Columbia River for sturgeon and used lures, fancy flashing ones, but lures. Wonder if they've checked Scott's tackle box. I did have to have a fishing license.

Legally, that is. Assuming for the moment that the rules meant something to him. Kind of hard to imagine that all things considered. Is that $4. fee for Brooks Island applicable if you float around the perimeter of the island? They wouldn't have got it either way, isn't there a "Help wanted" sign there?

While we are talking about the rules and state laws. Also need to consider if he registered the boat trailer into his name from the other Mr. Peterson. Or does that name thing somehow work into his plan?

Fishing for sturgeon in the Bay is different. It's been described as a bait and wait proposition. SP cited a magazine article that piqued his interest in the SF Bay sturgeon fishing, I am sure it was specific as to the best bait to use. I remember reading that there is a variety of fresh bait that can be used. He should have had some signs of that bait being in his possesion on 12/24 to make his alibi believable.

Ooh, good idea about the name thing! Causes confusion, doesn't it? Just what one might want if he were doing something shady--"he came back the following day and bought it on the spot, for cash."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but CA seems to be a somewhat over-regulated state. Now, even in the states with far less rules and regulations, everyone knows you need fishing or hunting licenses, or you face fines and court appearances. And so they make it easy to get them--you can buy one at the bait store or where you get your shells for hunting, and you can buy it on the day you go to fish or hunt. There's little excuse for not carrying one. So--where's Scott's?

I don't know, but I know someone who almost surely can tell me, and I'll ask him when I see him next.

As others here have said, I am guessing that it confers some VIP status on the person who holds it, perhaps allowing them in areas where the general public can't go. It is no doubt one of those things companies give out for PR purposes, to impress customers, etc. It's said Scott got his from ABC. (Hmmm--what if that's true, and the other media look down on the NE for paying for stories? As if they themselves didn't also have little ways of getting "exclusives"?)

He may have one. If he went fishing anytime in 2002 he could have picked one up that would have been valid on 12/24.
