More Crew to come...
Carnival's cruise ship Triumph docked at St. Thomas.
Ahoy, Freepers! Why not make your next year's vacation a FREEPER CRUISE? Can't think of a better idea!
United we stand for conservative activism AND some good old-fashioned fun, too!
This cruise thread will be running right up until embarkation day. It'll be packed with lots of information.
Post your enthusiastic comments here. Links are provided below for stateroom/fares information, registration form and
the Bahama Mama Q&A thread devoted solely to answers for all your cruise questions and to provide you with smooth sailing.
We strongly urge you to register ASAP. We need a certain number of registrations by a mid-January cutoff date
to ensure our reserved block of cabins with Carnival. From many communications we've received since last year's terrific cruise,
we're certain the interest is out there. We don't want to have to deep-six this event if we don't get enough registrations in a timely manner.
PLEASE NOTE to hold off on making your air tickets reservations until we give you the go-ahead.
We have more than ample lead-time for this cruise and you'll be able to get good air-fare bargains in plenty of time!
Since some air-transportation tickets are non-refundable, we don't want anyone to be left holding the ditty-bag.
As an incentive for early registration, the first 20 Freepers to get their reservations into the travel agency
will win their choice of five (5) sheets of Ocents.com stamp sheets (go to that website for Seeking the Truth's array of terrific stamps!)
They will also receive a usflagballoon.com pin courtesy of Abner (check out Abner's usflagballoon website
to view the colorful pin and some excellent pictures of the US Flag Balloon!) Registrations will be dated and time-stamped by the agency.
Winners will be notified and they'll receive their gift stamps and pins via mail.
We've got a great contest planned for later. A lucky winner will receive a FREE cabin for two!
Last year, the contest was won by our Freeper pal, Taxman. This time it may be you!
Bookmark this thread. We'll keep you posted as plans evolve. Register now for this fun-filled getaway in the sun!
Informal FRN meetings will be held on board which will be full of information and idea-sharing for effective conservative activism.
Rock the boat with your fellow Freepers! Climb aboard today!
This page is for about the cruise.
If you have questions, do not post them here.
Use the Bahama Mama link and ask them there.
Thank you!

Especially the one that shows one of the lounges in the "Triumph". If you imbibe enough adult beverages, you'll swear you're surrounded by CBS eyes. Maybe Dan Rather will be on the cruise!
Argghhhhh!
Leni
One of the lounges is named "The Capital", honoring our nation's capital city.
The heart of the ship contains a nine-story-high atrium featuring a suspended gold-leafed depiction of the Northern Hemisphere.
The "Rome Lounge" features Las Vegas-style revues in a spectacular three-level, state-of-the-art theater.
The sun-loving ship has spacious outdoor entertainment centers with outdoor dining and dancing, 4 swimming pools, 7 whirlpools, shaded bars and entertainment stages.
And for a real treat for children of all ages, there's a 214-foot spiral waterslide. That's for me (not!)
Leni
Ummkay, here's the deal. I've always said that my worst day fishing was one heck of a lot better than my best day at work. And since we'll be in Cozumel for quite a few hours and there is some of the world's greatest offshore sport fishing available in that happy port, I hope to take advantage of the combination while we are there.
Charter boats await us on our quest for sailfish, dorado, white marlin, tuna, wahoo, grouper, barracuda, snapper, and even the elusive blue marlin among others. (Some of the fish on this list are more elusive than others of course - for example, we'll probably be hip-deep in snapper).
Available charters from reputable companies such as 3 Hermanos, Albatros, DiveCozumel, and others run in half-day or full-day increments, and generally start at about $300 for the hire of a boat and guide for a half day, for up to 6 people. That includes all tackle and bait, an experienced guide, and a light lunch and turista-free beverages.
I am still researching the various charters to find the best deal, and have a list compiled of everyone who has expressed interest in the trip. I will contact everybody on that list with the info I find out about available charters as late May draws closer.
Strela's Recommendations to Lug Along On The Fishing Trip:
This stuff has come in handy on my past trips in the azure waters of Diego Garcia and the Indian Ocean, off the Florida and California coasts, and a few weekend gigs in Port Aransas.
SUNSCREEN. I usually bring a big honkin' tube of Bullfrog SPF 50, and I'll share if anybody needs any.
A good hat that covers your ears and the back of your neck. I have a Marco Island Fishing Hat that does the job nicely (it looks like a French Foreign Legion kepi with a ballcap instead of the hard top), but a straw Stetson or clamdigger will work too.
SUNSCREEN
Sunglasses with ties to prevent them from flying off your face into the drink while battling Mr. 1800 Pound Blue Marlin.
Did I mention SUNSCREEN?
A light, long-sleeved shirt to keep your arms from burning (if you forgot your SUNSCREEN of course)
A bottle of Potable Aqua (water purification tablets). They're cheap (about 3 bucks at Wally World), and can be a lifesaver if you are offered any questionable liquid to drink.
Nosh (the sandwiches supplied by the charter might not be what you want).
Some free advice: Don't sit too close to the edge of the boat if you can avoid it. Sunlight reflects off the water like a big mirror, right up into the bottom of your chin and face. I've actually had blisters from getting badly sunburned this way, so I'm a lot more careful these days.
I am the WORLD's worst fisherman! I have been to see fishing about three times - nary a bite!
Well, let's break the hoodoo on this trip. We will be in the heart of the blue marlin season during late May/early June.
Daquiri's at dusk!
There will likely be adult beverages of ALL types available on this gig. Trust me ;)
Regards,
TS
Registration is still open, freepers. Sign on for the "Triumph" cruise (and it will be a triumphal cruise!) by phoning Wanda at 1-800-890-7583 right now while our discounted fares still hold and while our reserved cabins are still available. Time is short, so roll, guys and gals, roll!
Leni
Those of you who are already signed on have received or will receive shortly confirmation of your paid-up fare with verification of your cabin. Mine came yesterday.
This mailing is NOT your tickets. A few weeks before embarkation, you will receive in the mail your tickets plus an official form to fill out required by the cruise line, not our agency.
Some of the papers you've just received contain some paragraphs that are just computer-generated boiler-plate and may be a little off here and there. For instance, one of my paragraphs said "you requested early-seating for dinner". Which I didn't. Disregard this. Our freeper group has second-seating and our tables will all be together in one section of the dining room.
If you have any questions, please post them on the Bahama Mama thread.
Leni
There's still time to register and to receive the cabin of your choice, the low discount fare and the registration-incentive gifties donated by generous fellow freepers.
March 21 (Friday) is the "drop-date" issued by the cruise line, meaning that all unsold cabins in our reserved group block will be released on the market for the line's other waiting customers. This is policy on all cruise lines.
Also, after Friday, our gift premiums will be withdrawn as we're just about plum out of 'em.
We realize that it's difficult to focus on a cruise or even a vacation in light of current events. But the cruise is still over two months away. If prognostications are correct, this may well turn out to be an event that will rival in exhilaration the "Count the Silverware" inaugural ball we had in DC. What a great event that was! And what a great time we'll have aboard the "Triumph" exchanging war stories, Clinton stories, Daschle stories and fish stories with fellow freepers from every corner of this country!
So before the ship fills up, make a call to Wanda at 1-800-890-7583 and get your reservation in NOW. You don't want to be kicking yourself later when all cabins aboard are sold out.
If you have any questions about registering, please freepmail me at "MinuteGal".
