[history]
More than eight years after Congress approved a ban on the sale of semiautomatic assault weapons, supporters and opponents are preparing to battle over whether to let the law expire as scheduled in September 2004.
Although 19 months away, the sunset date for the 1994 law banning AK-47s and similar weapons is generating intensive lobbying efforts from both sides of the emotional gun control issue.

"Gun control advocates worry that the targeted firearms -- the weapons of choice for many drug dealers, gang members and terrorists -- "
This is such utter baloney. No, drug dealers and gangbangers like small, light, easily-concealable weapons, and most so-called "assualt weapons" (my preferred term: "sport-utility rifles") do not fit this bill.
Sport-utility rifles are, however, very good at protecting the freedoms of citizens against tyrannical government, which is why people like Diane Feinswine and Barbara Boxer want to keep them from us.
I've already decided that if Bush comes out on the wrong side of this issue, and does not do everything in his power to let this ban die a natural death, I will NOT be voting for him in the next election.

Here's something interesting to consider: Defensive handgun makers have been quietly producing lots of double stack 10rd limited brand new designs. If this ban goes away, look for all of these guns to suddenly have new clips available.

I know exactly what Bush is trying to do. Pass the Buck.
We're in the minority in the senate since Chafee, McStain, Warner, Lugar, DeWine, Voinovich are all anti. Snowe, Collins, Jeffords, Baucus, and Ben Nelson are all waverers at best. The only solid pro dem is Zell Miller.
The house is where the real battle is, and I THINK we'll be alright there, but nothing is certain in politics. Most of those old southern and midwest dems that backed us before are gone, and there are some REALLY Anti gun RINO's as well.
If Bush signs it, he's every bit the moron the libs say.

Just in time for the election. No short memory factor here. Unless the alternative is absolutely heinous.

He signs it, and he's a one-termer. That simple. And that, my friends, is all that needs to be said.

Ms. Brady is dying of lung cancer, I think. But there are many more waiting in the wings to take her place, most of whom are in it for the money, but some who are definite enemies of freedom.

The terrorist traversing our "sieve for a border" and Clinton's "citizenship for votes" programs
have given us those who would use our freedom against us..and do
They live among us masquerading as Americans and are allowed to buy the same weapons as us...so now thanks to this
These animals given citizenship now buy and own guns (whose access was paid for by true american veteran's blood..).
And when they committ crimes...the real Americans will suffer loss of freedom..
The fake americans were deliberately brought into American for just this purpose imo

"Ms. Brady is dying of lung cancer..."It would be fitting somehow that a cancer on the American body politic should herself be so afflicted.

But Bush has the Veto. Of course he would have to rent a spine to use it, but I can lend him mine for $199.95 per day. There's no way the Dems can wrassle up 2/3rds of both the House and the Senate.
He promised to VETO CFR and we all know what he did there
I ain't encouraged especially seeing how the media will make a HUGE issue over it

I think the American people, even gun owners, are for extending the assault weapons ban.
Name them Chuckie.
Stay safe; stay armed.

What else can we do? Sometimes I think we should just vote for Democrats in order to hasten a dictatorship. I don't want to be in a wheelchair when they come jackbooting down the street to get my guns.

Is this the book that you wrote?
You were previewing this sometime last year I believe.
If I get the read-time (I'm backed up) I'll give it a go.
