PARIS (Reuters) - Iraq should meet its international obligations and destroy banned missiles, French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin said in a newspaper interview released on Sunday.
"It is necessary for Iraq to act and meet its obligations, in this case the destruction of these prohibited missiles," he told Le Figaro newspaper.
He said Baghdad should also destroy chemical and biological warfare materials if U.N. inspectors proved Iraq still had them. Baghdad has denied possessing such weapons.
French government spokesman Jean-Francois Cope told French Europe No 1 radio that Iraq must comply with the demands.
"France does not show any kind of particular leniency with regard to Iraq. There is no question of that," Cope said.

I sense the screws are being tightened severely. 'W' has expressed confidence a second resolution will pass, and I can't see what's changed.
Perhaps we made it PERFECTLY CLEAR the consequences of their non-support. Troops, protection, business, and money; all gone. We could save one hell of lot of money by telling them to stuff it.

"France does not show any kind of particular leniency with regard to Iraq. There is no question of that," Cope said. French government spokesman? That can't be right. He's really a stand-up comedian.

I think the French want the Iraqi govt to only buy missiles with the "Fabrique dans la France" logo.
Remember Al Gore: asserted that he was rocked to sleep with the "remember the Union Label" song. For Saddam it is "Remember the European Union" label.
I do differentiate, Al Gore would have sentenced our children to state education, where Saddam would sentence them to torture while we watched. Now that I think of it, the big difference is that Saddam has a more involved PTA.

France and Chirac: Iraq should disarm.
USA and Bush: Iraq WILL disarm or we will do it for them.
Any noticable differences in rhetoric between the two?

Have you noticed that France has changed the role of the inspectors? Now they have become investigators.

Eggsackley! The frogs have been to Baghdad to get their talking points for the next round of UN setups. Why else do you think Chiraq is accepting francs into his personal accounts from his friend Saddam?... To be paid for his further cooperation and coordination vv the U.N. Security Counsel!

Al Gore would have sentenced our children to state education...His NEA teacher supporters have already; they didn't need him. Go here for a story on how they are treating the children of our military men and women by telling 7 and 9 year olds that their daddy or mommy is a bad person by being deployed to fight in Iraq. Blood-boiling time.

Given that France has taken on the role of western mentor and coach to Sadaam, I would anticipate a big, flashy announcement that Iraq has decided to destroy these missiles. This will get the wacko leftists all a-twitter with Sadaam/Chirac love.
Oh, yeah, Peace in our Time. I suspect Sadaam will start wearing the peace sign as a little lapel button. Hollywood would go orgasmic.

France says, France warns, France will veto...
Every single day...day after day, after day, after day.
Shut up Jaques. You're a wimp trying to bluster his way around the big boys, especially since you now have 'powerful' friends, like Gerhardt and Mugabe.

Bush will lead a Coalition of the Willing to disarm Iraq, despite France leading Saddam's Coalition of the Shilling.

"And if they don't?"If they don't, then France will 'warn' the US against acting 'unilaterally' or whatever the new lefty keyword is now, then continue ruining NATO and dithering in the UN over Clintonesqe definitions of the word 'is' while the delegations of old EUrope and terrorist states applaud.
He's flapping his lips to seem important and morally balanced. His publicist told him to do it. His position hasn't changed.
Whenever I think of Jaques, that Kid Rock song "Cowboy" starts running through my head.

And besides, Clinton (the dupe) expects to be the next UN head!!
To: areafiftyone
He said Baghdad should also destroy chemical and biological warfare materials if U.N. inspectors proved Iraq still had them. Baghdad has denied possessing such weapons. And there you have in a nutshell what's gone wrong in this process. The UN resolution said Iraq has to prove that they've destroyed what we know they already had, not the other way around. And saying, "We poured them into a hole in the ground and have no records of it," isn't going to cut it.

" 'France does not show any kind of particular leniency with regard to Iraq. There is no question of that,' Cope said."Translation : "See?? We French are TOUGH on Iraq!! We suggest they destroy their WMD, or we will be forced to WARN them that they must destroy their WMD!! In addition, we will use our mighty Security Council veto to insist on more time and more inspectors...FOREVER!!"</sarcasm>
Sure. No oil deals, no sales of WMD components, no Sheik Chiraq selling nuke plants to Iraq which the Israeli military is then forced to destroy...

Don't worry, we have all kinds of trump cards. Bush will pull them out during the next two weeks. We're going in the next 2-3weeks.
