I just turned and looked out my office window and saw a column of black smoke rising towards Union Beach/Perth Amboy NJ.

I then felt the force of an explosion rattle my window.

The FBI reported about 20 minutes ago that the fire is not terrorist-related. How do they know this so soon?

I'll bet about 8 trillion-billion dollars that it's something along the lines of "we don't have any information indicating it was a terrorist attack" rather than a flat statement ruling out terrorism.

it's reasonable for people to suspect there could be a terrorist element involved here.

It absolutely is reasonable. There are so many refineries and chemical plants in that area and NJ. You very rarely hear of an accident of this magnitude. Given the location and proximity to NYC, you have to be cautious. It could be a diversionary tactic used to tie up fire and emergency personnel and close off bridges and tunnels into Manhattan which would leave us extremely vulnerable. Not to mention it's coming on the heals of threats. Can't be too cautious these days or rule out the possibilty so quickly.

A country is mad up of people. And the worth of a nation is the worth of its people. As a whole the country is headed toward the abyss because of immigration. I didn't say this particular fire is due to immigration, but it could be due to people's incompetence or their inability to read and speak in the English language. All this due to our inane immigration policies.

There'd still need to be an investigation to make sure the "major F**K Up" had not been deliberate, i.e., an act of sabotage, before one could be sure terrorism was not involved.

Recall the primary goals of the Islamic jihad are to strike terror in the hearts of the infidels and bring credit for the destruction to Allah.

Recall the 9/11 bombing and the ongoing hundreds of Islamic jihad attacks around the world and the immediate announcements of credits from the jihad warriors to the world.

Unless the jihad is changing it's tactics of announcing glory to Allah for their strategic strikes, the jihad warriors are becoming even more clandestine (and deadly).

I say this because there are NO KNOWN FATALITIES from this huge explosion.

So are you saying that we should just pass off all Incidents of these types as accidents?

If ordinary accidents are credited to our enemies, they don't need to take any action at all to win. In my opinion, it would be better to deny all credit to them (provided that in the background we are tracking them down and wringing their necks.)

Because they're just smart, that's why. Remember TWA 800? The eyewitnesses didn't know anything, but the FBI, now those are some smart guys.

Personally I think you have hit the nail on the head. I think they know that at least in this country, if they started claiming responsibility for Incidents in the US, that would be the straw that broke the camels back for most Americans, and if you even looked like an Arab you would have to leave this country or face the almost certainty that your days on this planet were numbered.
