What is your favorite Movie? (Vanity)
now | ezo

Posted on 02/20/2003 4:00:09 PM PST by ezo4

I’m sitting here after work and pulled out the “Last of the Mohicans” and I’m wondering what my fellow freepers like for there favorite movies. I would like more for my collection of dvd’s. Current and older movies? Doesn’t matter what it is.

Just a little break from the daily news and politics.

I have quite a few that I like and I’m looking for more. Hit me back

Directv has "The Return.." on pay-per-view. Watched it, taped it, but won't spoil it for you. I was surprised that I had become a "Rings" fan. It usually isn't my type of flick.

The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer with Cary Grant, first released in 1947. I am going to see this film on the big screen at a theater close to me that shows classic movies in early August and can hardly wait!

I see no one has picked David Lynch's Eraserhead. I wonder why? Two hours of pure anticipation that something has got to happen and then nothing. Five years in production has to mean something, right?

How about Forbidden Zone by Danny Elfman's brother? Truly a strange movie.

I have seen very few movies since the 80s, and I don't feel deprived at all. During the Titanic mania, though, people were acting like I was some kind of idiot for not going to it--my neighbor, my doctor, all urging me to go, and I'm like, I KNOW how it ends! Besides I don't like to watch suffering, even make-believe.... I've actually seen quite a few movies, but none I'd want to watch again. Chinatown was artsy, I actually thought On the Beach was well done, but, oh well...I know many people like them. Not my cup of tea.

"First a comedy--Cary Grant's classic, "Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House." I'll bet not many of you have seen it, but you can't take your eyes off it once it starts.<<<<<<

Hmmm. Is this from that movie: "If you ain't eating SPAM, you ain't eating ham"? (sonething like that). It was an advertising slogan thought up by the maid in the household, I think. Or I may be confusing my old movies.......

The 7 Samurai
Lawrence of Arabia
Ran
Kieslowski's "The Decalouge"
Citizen Kane
Pulp Fiction
Dr. Strangelove
The Straight Story

Watched an amazing film last night "The Station Agent" no sex, no violence, no car crashes, no chases, no hit song, no super heros, no hype, just a good honest movie about real people with real lives and the difficulties within.

As for the last few years, there have been a few gems:

Kill Bill 1 & 2
The Station Agent
Ghost World
American Splendor
Waiting for Guffman/Best in Show/Mighty Wind
Memento
Pieces of April

I left out a few great foreign films:
400 Blows
Wages of Sin
Jules & Jim
Day for Night
Amacord
