Noon time rally at University of California Long Beach. David Horowitz, invited by the College Republicans, spoke about why we should support our president and our troops.
On a grassy knoll at the rear of the crowd, the angry and the ignorant gathered with drums and signs that read: "BUSH IS STUPID," "BUSH IS RETARDED," "BU-- SH--!" "NO BLOOD FOR OIL," ETC. They chanted "Bull sh--!" and "Racist" (which I guess applies to any Republican or person who supports President Bush) while David Horowitz talked about human rights atrocities in the Sudan, Iraq, North Korea, and asked why the "No War" nuts weren't upset about any of that.
In case anyone reading this didn't get the memo, these "anti-war" protesters are really ANTI-BUSH. (please read their signs when BobJ posts them tonight.) And they aren't interested in any honest debate. They shouted over David Horowitz and Shawn Steel, who spoke afterward.
Part two of the memo is that the protesters are ANTI-AMERICA. They booed when Horowitz said that, but one girl was holding an upside down American flag with industry symbols in place of the stars. And another American flag sign read "the people are sheep" and "land of the pigs."
One old guy was walking around with a sign advertising the communist radio station Pacifica and explaining to anyone who would listen that Bush was appointed by the Supreme Court.
P.S. Rather than getting busy doing something about gangs and the school system, the LA City Council is discussing their own anti-war declaration.
How many were there for "our" side? Any press? There were at least a HUNDRED pro-USA supporters, many of them from on campus, but MANY from very diverse group of local patriots - of all ages, and all sizes. :o)
The "bad guys" were apparently all CSU-LB losers who hold similar "chanting" rallies on a VERY regular basis on this campus.
I think that we out-numbered them, but we were spread out, and they were herded together by the police into a single "First Amendment" area.
Was the audience able to hear Mr. Horowitz and Mr. Steel, despite the Communist disruptors? It was EXTREMELY difficult to clearly hear David Horowitz throughout MUCH of his talk.
He also pointed to representatives of the University - who were in attendance at our event, and did NOTHING to quiet the disruptors.
These CSU-LB "officials" did not even have the class to greet Mr. Horowitz, or thank him for visiting their campus.
The DRUMS were, IMHO, entirely unacceptable, and the NEXT time we must find a way to prevent their disruption. There MUST be some sort of "official" CSU-LB policy statement somewhere that prevents such actions.
There were t.v. cameras there. I for sure saw an NBC camera, but I don't know what other press.NBC-TV was there, and we saw the big antenna go up on their van, so they DEFINITELY were broadcasting.
RonDog will know.
I also talked with some folks with the Long Beach Press-Telegram, who (if I recall correctly) actually endorsed CA governor Gray Davis' GOP challenger (Bill Simon) in last fall's election.
There were SEVERAL reporters from at least one the campus newspapers - not sure of the name - and from the campus TV station.
And a guy from KPFK (tax-supported communist radio).Perhaps others.
Special thanks to the CSU-Long Beach College Republicans, and their president, Jessica Ochoa for getting David Horowitz, Shawn Steele, Ted Hayes, NBC-TV, the Long Beach Press-Telegram...
...and over a HUNDRED patriots to show up on a TUESDAY AFTERNOON!As Shawn Steele said, "This was a beach head - a turning point."

The LA Chapter needs to schedule ANOTHER "road trip" up your way - when BOTH of YOU will be there! :o)

Kwanzaa: A holiday from the FBI
Trent Lott, call your office: Apparently some parts of American history can be sanitized and forgotten. Earlier this week, President George Bush issued a formal White House proclamation celebrating Kwanzaa....and, of course, see also:Sounding like a "Saturday Night Live" send-up, Bush praised the "seven principles" of Kwanzaa, "known as Nguzo Saba," and discussed the "early harvest gatherings called 'matunda ya kwanza,' or first fruits." He included the usual claptrap about how Kwanzaa celebrates "traditional African values" and "uniting people of diverse backgrounds and beliefs."
It is a fact that Kwanzaa was invented in 1966 by a black radical FBI stooge, Ron Karenga, aka Dr. Maulana Karenga. Karenga was a founder of United Slaves, a violent nationalist rival to the Black Panthers and a dupe of the FBI.
In what was probably ultimately a foolish gamble, during the madness of the '60s, the FBI encouraged the most extreme black nationalist organizations in order to discredit and split the left. The more preposterous the organization, the better. Karenga's United Slaves was perfect. In the annals of the American '60s, Karenga was the Father Gapon, stooge of the czarist police.
Despite modern perceptions that blend all the black activists of the '60s, the Black Panthers did not hate whites. They did not seek armed revolution. Those were the precepts of Karenga's United Slaves. United Slaves were proto-fascists, walking around in dashikis, blowing away Black Panthers and adopting invented "African" names. (That was a big help to the black community: How many boys named "Jamal" currently sit on death row?)
Whether Karenga was a willing dupe, or just a dupe, remains unclear. Curiously, in a 1995 interview with Ethnic NewsWatch, Karenga matter-of-factly explained that the forces out to get O.J. Simpson for the "framed" murder of two whites included: "the FBI, the CIA, the State Department, Interpol, the Chicago Police Department" and so on. (He further noted that "the evidence was not strong enough to prohibit or eliminate unreasonable doubt" an interesting standard of proof.) Karenga should know about FBI infiltration.
In the category of the-gentleman-doth-protest-too-much, back in the '70s, Karenga was quick to criticize rumors that black radicals were government-supported. When Nigerian newspapers claimed that some American black radicals were CIA operatives, Karenga leapt in to denounce the idea publicly, saying, "Africans must stop generalizing about the loyalties and motives of Afro-Americans, including the widespread suspicion of black Americans being CIA agents."
By now, there is no question that the FBI fueled the bloody rivalry between the Panthers and United Slaves. In one barbarous outburst, Karenga's United Slaves shot Black Panther Al "Bunchy" Carter on the UCLA campus. Karenga himself served time, a useful stepping-stone for his current position as a black studies professor at California State University at Long Beach.
Kwanzaa itself is a lunatic blend of schmaltzy '60s rhetoric, black racism and Marxism. Indeed, the seven "principles" of Kwanzaa praise collectivism in every possible arena of life economics, work, personality, even litter removal. ("Kuumba: Everyone should strive to improve the community and make it more beautiful.") It takes a village to raise a police snitch.
When Karenga was asked to distinguish Kawaida, the philosophy underlying Kwanzaa, from "classical Marxism," he essentially explained that under Kawaida, we also hate whites. While taking the "best of" I'm not making this up "early Chinese and Cuban socialism," Kawaida practitioners believe one's racial identity "determines life conditions, life chances and self-understanding." There's an inclusive philosophy for you...

...They must stand quietly and not interfere with the speaker, and are forcibly ejected from the "permitted" area if they disobey. Thanks!
THAT will be our objective NEXT time. And there WILL be a "next" time - soon!
It's good to see that our side can speak without being silenced, even on the Left Coast.
NO DISRUPTORS ALLOWED!
It would appear that the rules that the Park Police use here are not observed...LOL!
THAT is the problem: we had "campus security" enforcing the protection of our First Amendment rights. :(The local police were there in large numbers, and THEY were great - as they insured that no one was physically hurt.
But the "NOISE control" was a CAMPUS security issue, and THEY were bozos...
Actually Ron, I estimated the pro crowd at 300-400 and the anti's at 50-75.EXCELLENT!
YOU are probably more accurate.I was pre-occupied with OTHER things...
