"we'll be hearing about it form other sources."
I really do hope so.. I didn't think I'd need an appointment with my shrink for at least two weeks..
To: acnielsen guy
Oh good..now that I have you under my thumb.. What is that in her lower pants?
Did you have this pic in PS?
To: grannie9
You don't need a shrink unless you think all the net images could disappear without anyone else noticing. But it is impossible for all net images to disappear. For one thing, images are cached, so if you return to a site, you don't need to download the images a second time.
Another possibility is that you and some others have a misbehaving popup blocker or ad blocker. Or even that some ISPs briefly experimented with some blocking software.
Or perhaps there is a new virus chewing on the internet. At any rate, I don't think it affected everyone everywhere.

If it happened to anyone it was of such short duration that they would assume their server was responsible and think nothing of it. It was just a coincidence that at 4:15am two people in different countries,in communication at the time, obviously on different servers, working with pictures observed the same phenomonon at the same time.
Checking other sites to see if it was limited to one country or particular sites I found all sites checked in several countries their logos and pictures did not show. If it was my server there would be no problem two separate servers is indeed an unusual coincidence.
To: acnielsen guy
Right!!! Everything went blank on you in Spain.. and other countries you checked..and everything I checked over here went blank too.
If we were in the same country..and had the same sites to check I would not think it was so odd.. but it was very odd at the time.. and I don't think we have it figured out yet.
To: grannie9; js1138
That is obviously the Union label gran.
No it is on the Sun Newpaper UK site.
As for no one else realising it - unless there were the three criteria operating between the people involved it would not have been noticed as anything special. At that time the chances of that are negligable so failure to become aware is not proof of anything and only the tiny faction of people on FR even know there was a problem - many other may know about it but are isolated and do not know they are not the only ones.
The chances any two other people on FR being in that precise situation at that time and knowing about this thread is probably several billion to one.

I think we have now..or a very reasonable facsimile ;)

Just, you know, a little heads up.

It's MY fault!
At 4:15 a portal to teh other dimensions opened nearby (this time without earthquakes) and sucked all the logos in.
I hope they're all back by now.
And not twisted...

What you all need to remember though, it that there can be at least 2 reasons you aren't seeing images- the data isn't being sent, or the data isn't being received.
The internet is also divided up into various 'trunks'. I'd guess some glitch happened that affected both your ISPs. BTW it doesn't matter, cable or DSL you both end up on another pipe- the cable and DSL are just how you get there.
If you want to see how it goes, you can do a 'tracert' (trace route) to a server. (type it in a dos window).
For instance, freerepublic.com.
This is a portion of the route:
gbr6-p80.attga.ip.att.net [12.123.21.78]

Very interesting, the route from France, Germany, Japan, Spain, and Florida are all on the same trunk, with no redundancy on the network.
It make one wonder what all the half dozen main centers are for. As for graphics not being sent, that is precisely what happened they were blocked.
