What you all need to remember though, it that there can be at least 2 reasons you aren't seeing images- the data isn't being sent, or the data isn't being received.
The internet is also divided up into various 'trunks'. I'd guess some glitch happened that affected both your ISPs. BTW it doesn't matter, cable or DSL you both end up on another pipe- the cable and DSL are just how you get there.
If you want to see how it goes, you can do a 'tracert' (trace route) to a server. (type it in a dos window).
For instance, freerepublic.com.

Very interesting, the route from France, Germany, Japan, Spain, and Florida are all on the same trunk, with no redundancy on the network.
It make one wonder what all the half dozen main centers are for. As for graphics not being sent, that is precisely what happened they were blocked.
