I can't believe Hannity is allowing Col Hackworth (Ret) to run down the Active Duty Military again. Talking about some devective "protective gear", if you get my drift. Why would he continue to spew out all this crap that will be swollowed up by our enemies? Why doesn't Hannity get the story from the Active Duty people? If there really is a problem, why give the info to our enemy?????

Ya know, I flagged AM in on a thread yesterday and got it pulled for beating on Hack this way. I do not know how long you have been around, I don't check prior to posting. The fact of the matter is, you're shooting or own men. Whether you want to believe or not, you are.

Hack may be wrong, but why come to a forum the size of FR and beat the guy up. Why are all of you beating the guy up? If he is wrong, email him and tell him your thoughts. Slamming the guy publicly like this is very low.

Once upon a time, I frequented Matt Drudge's site. This is where I learned of Free Republic. Folks here at FR were quite pleased to have Drudge endorse them. Then came the self righteous posters...Matt Drudge cut the link to FR because folks were beating on him here. Jim Robinson was more or less torn between Free speech and a loyalty to Drudge.

In time, Drudge replaced the link...all was happy again. That is of course untill someone else or a few, started slamming Drudge again. Drudge cut the link for the last time. Today, FR is probably much more stand alone, but Drudge still gets a million hits on most days.

Point being, you don't rifle down your brothers in the military/ex-military because you do not agree with him. Why don't you all use some professional Military bearing and handle it with a little more tact, if you will.

I posted a vanity 2 days ago, questioning why Hackworth, who has a (deservedly) strong following among our younger serving military members, was maintaining a web site telling them ( and anyone else who wants to read it ) that their leaders are inept, their equipment may be defective, and, after military service, they can expect to get kicked in the teeth by an ungrateful country.

SysRep demanded ( and got ) my thread pulled.

What next ? Do we all get banned ???

If what has been posted is the truth It should be used as a tool to inform & to educate people . If it gets pulled it gets pulled .

You may be correct about Drudge . I have no idea nor is it any of my business . I'm not in the loop nor do I believe that Col. Hackworth is .

Hackworth may not be in the loop, but he is still a news source. A news source who I consider to be on the right side. A lot here are complaining that he is running his mouth and in that negative, putting down our troops and our preparedness. Well, what our these guys doing by posting it on Free Republic... Keeping it under wraps?? Hardly...

I listen to Michael Medved during Hannity's time slot, he tries to get the most authoritative guests unless he's debunking liberals. Hackworth is wrong and annoying.

You and I differ on the 1st 2 points you mention here . I dont believe he is a news source nor would I consider him to be on the right side when he or anyone else uses the public podium to forward information that is potentially detrimental to our forces .

If you were ever in the American Armed Forces you knew if you had equiptment that had short comings or was in short supply just like I did . Putting it out for everyone to know about including possible / probable op-for is uncalled for sit-rep .

I'm not defending other posters here . They can do that themselves . I will say again , that when Col. Hackworth is quoted in his own words and his actions are publicly displayed , if a critique is in order than so be it .

When a man admits he chose to live in Australia instead of America because of his disgust with the U.S. and while in Australia wages propaganda war against the defense policies of President Reagan, he may be deserving of criticism.

Hackworth did not feel comfortable returning to the United States until Bill Clinton was elected President. His buddy Roger Charles has formed a "think tank" with Johhn Podesta. This man needs to be exposed and you are not serving the interests of any conservative by hitting your abuse button when people are told Hackworth feels his greatest accomplishment is a Peace Medal from the U.N. received for opposing Ronald Reagan's policies.

I don't want to get into pissin' matches with anyone over this. I think it a no brainer that indeed one should not spout off in public about the shortcomings, if any, of our military. My main point was the thrashing some here are giving him. And then posting the same information with a different point of view. It's like airing it twice.

And yes, I knew of the short comings while I was in, and I know there are still shortcomings...the military is always years behind modern equipment for the most part. I got news for you to...most militarys are...
