Announcing "Citizens for Fair and Balanced Funding"

Posted on 02/16/2003 12:34:36 PM PST by dware

Are you getting sick of all the anti-war protestors? Want to make a difference? Now you can, by becoming a part of the "Citizens for Fair and Balanced Funding" (CFBF) chapter right here on Free Republic.

The CFBF Committee will take on the task of exposing the funding sources, organizations and individuals supporting the anti-war movement. We will do this through in-depth research of organizations who are both providing and receiving public money or tax benefits for their support of the movement.

In many cases, these organizations have been formed under the IRS as 501(c)3 corporations, and are not being completely truthful about their activities. Take ANSWER, for instance, a non-profit group listed as a day care center with the IRS. CFBF will work towards exposing these organizations, and pursue them in the media, with government agencies and so forth.

Below is the founding outline for CFBF. Please take a moment to read over it, and get involved. If you would like to take part on the Committee, please FReepmail me, or email me at warehouse@gvii.net

Citizens for Fair and Balanced Funding

What We Believe

1. Government entities entrusted with the care of public monies, and other public and private organizations that receive tax benefits from their financial support of non-profit or charitable organizations, have a moral and fiduciary obligation to balance their support among organizations that reflect the diversity of thought on critical legal and social issues of importance to all American taxpayers and citizens.

2. Government status review for possible reclassification, donor notification and/or legal action should be initiated against non-profit organizations whose operations differ significantly from representations made in legal tax exempt filings or printed informational/promotional materials.

Mission Statement

Citizens for Fair and Balanced Funding (CFBF) will research and disseminate information on the patterns of tax beneficial philanthropic support by government and non-government organizations in an effort to encourage a better balance that reflects the intellectual diversity of America, and on charitable organizations whose activities differ significantly from stated representations in legal tax exempt filings or informational/promotional materials.

Goals

1. Research and document the financial and non-financial patterns of charitable support of local, state and federal governments, private corporations, foundations, and other public and private organizations and institutions.

2. Identify agencies or organizations where findings indicate a significant imbalance in the intellectual diversity of the recipients of their charitable support.

3. Further encourage identified agencies or organizations to balance charitable support in a way that fairly represents the intellectual diversity of American taxpayers and citizens.

4. Disseminate information, findings of fact and CFBF activities to the government, the media and to the public.

Objectives

1. Initially, identify 3 - 5 groups providing and 3 - 5 groups receiving, significant charitable funding for social and political related activities under Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code.

2. Using public records (IRS 990, etc.) and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), research & identify the following:

a Tax exempt status and representations on IRS applications and filings
b. Sources of all income and recipients of all grants/funding
b. Represented activities for which grants/funding was received/given
c. All general and specific activities of the receiving organization
d. Total income and expenses of receiving organizations
e. Information on principles/directors/officers/members of the organization

3. Using public records, private data vendors and other public and private information sources, compile historical and biographical data on the organizations, their founders, funders and other individuals involved with the organization. Biographical data includes, but is not limited to, business listings, business dealings, criminal records (if applicable), financial data and more.

4. Compiled research data and other information to be disseminated as follows;

a. To the public via CFBF website and other internet vehicles, radio and television interviews, informational brochures and display advertising in the print media.
b. To television, radio, internet and print media outlets via press releases and press packets.
c. To members of government directly and via informational packets, letters, email and faxes.
d. To identified organizations and entities directly, via informational packets, calls, letters, email and faxes to officers, directors, stockholders, members and donors.

Not to duplicate already existing files, but I found the following to be eye-opening. The internationalanswer.org (A.N.S.W.E.R.) webpage 'coalition' names and organizations could keep a willing Freeper busy for weeks. Many of these groups simply change names when the heat is on, like boiler room operations.
Not in Our Name -- Not in Your Life, Frontpagemag. The groups behind the "peaceniks."
What Legacy from the Radical Internationalism of 1968? , the VLWC - how the Marxists used and incited various groups to join them in mass angst - Black Panthers, Rainbow Coalition, Young Lords Party, La Raza Unida Party, American Indian Movement.
Hugo Chavez and 9/11, self-proclaimed leader if the new anti-Imperialist movement (pro-Commie), Venezuela's oil billions fund terrorism and protests.
Related: March in protest against Chavez, get 5-10 years in jail
Get Ready for 20 World Trade Center Bombings, Steve Emerson's inciteful article about militant Muslim terrorist written in 1997.
The Fifth Column, David Horowitz's terrific list of articles re. the heads of the VLWC in our culture.
Who is Behind Lynn Stewart?, Brian Becker, Ramsey Clark, ANSWER, IAC, WWP, etc.
Fifth Column Mouthpiece, Communist lawyer, William Kunstler's "heir" - Stanley Cohen, leftist lawyer.
America Under Siege, David Horowitz.
Institute for Public Accuracy, sponsors of Sean Penn's trip to Bagdad: www.accuracy.org, IPA website.
The articles of Norman Solomon, head of IPA, published in major papers.
www.internationalanswer.org, Chomsky, Pfaw...the usual members of the VLWC. They're committing their mischief in broad daylight.

Plenty of corporate sponsors, many "encouraged" to donate by threat of boycott, ie:

Monday October 15 2001
Unilever gives millions to activists via Ben & Jerry's
Unilever has given millions of dollars through its Ben & Jerry's subsidiary to anti-globalisation protest groups and critics of corporate greed. Activist organisations such as Global Exchange and the Ruckus Society, which trained and organised demonstrators who shut down the meeting of the World Trade Organisation in Seattle in 1999, have received Unilever funds.

Your idea is a good one and the activistcash.com site appears to have a great deal of good info.

Thanks. ActivistCash.com is just one of many very resourceful sites out there that will be used to compile data.

My question is, what can be done with the compiled info once you have it?

The idea behind the CFBF Committee is to compile the info, then get out and PUSH the media to take note. It IS possible to do so, but it takes organization, dedication and a heck of a lot of patience.

We also want to get this info to donors, and let them know that if their support does not become balanced, or stop altogether for the anti-war commies, then those corporations will face boycotts of their products. Another aim is to seek out those organizations, such as ANSWER, who falsify their purposes to the IRS for 501(c)3 status.

I'd also be asking the same thing about non-profits set up for the Conservative side...

Even if someone on the left started doing something like this, their argument will be hard to press, so long as we strike FIRST. That is one of the biggest problems in the Conservative movement (though Bush's team has managed to begin to turn the tide) - we, as Conservatives, often sit back and let the left strike first. Once that is done, we are left using up our resources to counter their argument. At that point, we have already lost the battle. If the pro-gun movement in America would take heed to this, we could get a lot further in our fight for gun rights.

Hope this answers your questions. Thanks for the input, and I would love to have you as a part of this movement.

dware, I suggest buying a few file cabinets!

Actually, I was thinking this myself, as I also run my business from home. I was able to pick a couple up dirt cheap at a yard sale yesterday. I do believe they are going to come in handy, and I may even have to consider picking up some extras for my business.

Again, thanks for your help & input here.

I applaud your intent, but I'm not sure you are aware of how big a project this is. Are you going to research all the grant giving of the Pew Charitable Trusts? The Tides Foundation? The MacArthur Foundation? Ford? Rockefeller? Packard? Ever read Undue Influence?

Good luck (and I mean it)!

I really hate to be "doom and gloom" here, but I hope you have considered that being successful might make you a target. We all know how Arkanicide has worked in the past, and how violent the "peace protestors" have become.

I strongly urge you to take precautions to protect your identity, protect the data you accumulate, and protect yourself and family should you ruffle enough of the left's feathers.

Funding is the blood of the monster. Don't expect it not to fight back if you strike at its heart.

That said, while I can't help out just now, if you have a ping list for updates, please put me on it. Perhaps I can get involved later on in the year. Finding info on the web is something I do for a living (in a roundabout way).

Some useful investigative links.
In one's travels it may be necessary to find out who actually owns a domain, if sites are redirected, or housed in frames etc.
This page has a bunch of tools all on one page (tracert, verify email, nameserver, finger etc)
http://www.dataphone.se/~astilbe/inetcheck/

How to read email headers:
http://www.stopspam.org/email/headers/headers.html

In response to the comments about how big a job this is- of course.
But, I think by sharing info with other similar groups, and making info public, we will go a long way towards making people aware, or at least getting them to question.
