Muslim G.I. says he won't go

Ghanim Khalil doesn't want to break the law, but says he may be forced to.

The 26-year-old Army National Guard reservist said yesterday that if he's called up to help fight Iraq in the coming weeks, he'll refuse to go.

"If I'm asked to go to the Middle East, I will not," Khalil, of Staten Island, said at a news conference yesterday before he headed over to the anti-war rally near the United Nations.

"I believe if this war occurs, it is a violation of human rights," added Khalil, a Muslim with Pakistani roots.

Khalil, a supply specialist, said he has been given no date for when his unit at the Marcy Ave. Armory in Brooklyn might be called up.

"I've been told that it's only a matter of time," he said.

Khalil sat with members of the advocacy group Citizen Soldier, some of whom are veterans of past wars who are opposed to another Iraqi conflict.

Khalil, who spent four years on active duty with the Marines, said some of his opposition stems from his religious beliefs.

"As a Muslim, I have objections" to the war, he said.

But he called his protests universal, saying people of all faiths have spoken out against Persian Gulf War II.

Khalil said he realized he could go to jail if he refuses to follow orders ? but that he's within his legal rights to speak out against the war.

National Guard spokesman Col. Dan Stoneking wouldn't comment on Khalil specifically, saying, "All Americans have First Amendment rights," but that reservists who won't serve would be sanctioned.

U.S. Disciplinary Barracks, a multi-security military prison on Fort Leavenworth.

Take a look at your new home Abdul, you traitor! Personally, I think he should be shot or hung seeing as how we will be at war any day now. This makes you wonder if a Muslim is capable of serving in the US military.

...validity of racial profiling.

Don't you think there are others, of other races, in the military that feel the same?

Court martial him, then execute him as an example. It is time for change in this country.

Defining 'jihad'
Staten Island: As a law-abiding citizen and former Marine, I am appalled at how the Daily News defends the distorted definition of "jihad" in its Dec. 22 report on textbooks. The idea is to dispel ignorance, not defend it.

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and of the State of _______ against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to them; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the Governor of (the state) and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to law and regulations. So help me God." (The National Guard Oath of Office)

Alternative oath: "I do solemnly swear that I will look out for Number One, take all the freebies I can get my hands on, including job security, a paycheck, and free education, and that I will break my word as needed. So help me God (insert Allah here, as need be.)"

For this reason, all Muslims should be mustered out.

Didn't George Washington say, "Put only Americans on guard tonight?" before a key battle?

He needs time to re-consider his decision. Lock him up. Have him clean out the camp K-9 kennels and work on the prison hog farm.

Let's see your proof of this statement. Either that, or apologize.

It is time. Is is time for this nation to first return to its roots of morality, the Bible. I've been begging those I come in contact with to do so. If they don't they're going to have more people like you who demand we apologize for opposing evil. Islam is evil. Those who follow it are evil. History has proved that and internal evidence in the religion (the Koran and present day Imam commentary) document that position.

Apologize? Never. I have strongly advocated here deportation for Muslims and would do so in a heartbeat...that's their wives, their little ones, their dogs, their cattle and everything that belongs to them. I wouldn't rob them, but would make it a very severe crime to bring that religion back into this nation.

Still want an apology?

Well, the "roots of morality" contained in the Bible are the same for Islam as for Christianity.

And that hasn't stopped either religion--or nations that purport to follow them--from committing heinous bloodshed.

It's a "beam and mote" thing.
