DENVER - Concern among members of the FBIs Joint Terrorist Task Force has surfaced in Colorado. A semi-truck driving through the state on Thursday afternoon apparently triggered a nationwide alert going out to law enforcement agencies across the state Friday night.
Only a few specifics of the alert were released. Apparently, it stems from what happened at a Sinclair gas station in Byers around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Byers is about 40 miles east of Denver on I-70.
Two men described as Middle Eastern in an 18-wheeler with a white tractor truck apparently tried to put unleaded gasoline into the truck. An attendant advised them it would not work and told them they needed to use diesel.
The men fueled up with the correct gas, paid in cash and left on Highway 36, which would connect them to I-80 in northeastern Colorado.
The truck has a Quebec, Canada, license plate number RS7-116. The name on the truck is Real Transport.
Authorities ran a check on the license plate and said it was clear, but it does not have a current registration.
The FBI sent out the alert shortly before 5 p.m. Friday. It advises law enforcement officers that if the semi is contacted to identify the occupants and determine if there is a current registration available.
If the FBI has any other reason to be worried about the semi, it's not saying.
Theres no confirmation that this is tied into any possible terrorism, but with the country on high alert, no one wants to take any chances.
Well, some of the 911 hijackers pulled some dumb stunts, too, and they were very successful.
The fact this truck has expired Canadian plates (they never would have gotten across the border with expired plates) indicates the truck has been sitting, unused and hidden in this country for a while.
Unexpired plates suggest something has been brewing for a while and the truck not used. Semis are expensive to insure, license and drive and are very visible. This truck has been in this country, unused, for a while.
The fact the authorities have already traced the plate and have a basic ID on the vehicle indicates they probably know just where it came from and who owns it. The cops are worried and trying to track it down. Obviously, the company who owns it has no idea where it is going or what it is up to.
The fact these guys tried to put unleaded in a diesel truck indicates they aren't your "usual" truck drivers. They are up to something, using a large vehicle which they have never driven (or gassed) before.
The fact there are two men of similar ignorance and purpose suggests some sort of conspiracy, not somebody out for a "test drive" or doing legitimate trucking with a commercial vehicle (this is apparently not a rental).
These two men are apparently Middle-Eastern and are unfamiliar with American trucks, yet are driving one along an Interstate.
The fact this is a semi means this truck can hold an awful lot of something.
If this were merely a hijacked truck with "hot" cargo, the truck and cargo probably would have been long separated and the contents sold. The truck would have either been abandoned or destroyed. Instead, they're driving it around, heading someplace, long after it has been apparently stolen.
Colorado is a long way from Quebec.
There are simply too many things that make you go 'hmmmmm...' to give warm fuzzies here, especially with an advanced state of Alert.
Also VERY toxic. Don't know how to describe the odor, except that it smells like copper tastes.
I do remember. No I'm not posting it. No boric acid in that recipe, though...
Ummm Yes! It's like, um, totally, you know, embarassing, to, ummm, get like, killed by an idiot, dude...
I still can't remember offhand and it would only take a minute to look it up but some info is best not broadcast too widely.
I'm going to wait at least till Monday to peak in a book, just to see if it pops back into my mind so I won't feel quite so slow if I can recall without help.:0)
"Which hose should I use?" asks Achmed.
"Either one, it doesn't matter..."
So Achmed grabs a hose and reaches for the camel's tail.......
Not very smart.
