Are You Listening to This? Hispanics On Edge of Revolt Over Estrada!

The Dems stepped in it, big time. Hispanics have been calling in to Rush---he took four in a row, and said he could have taken 100 today---who are outraged over the Dems' treatment of Estrada.
Every one claimed to be either a Dem or a "former" Dem, with a couple of them virtually switching today. They ALL spoke highly of Bush. The idiot Dems have no idea how badly this is hurting them!!!

Bob,
God bless your for your racial neutrality, but you are incorrect. For the Democrats the Estrada nomination is PRIMARILY about race. You may not have noticed, but they confirmed several white judges prior to opposing the Estrada nomination. Do you have a reason to suppose that these judges were less conservative than Estrada? If so, why?
The Democrat reason for opposing Estrada is because he is both conservative and a minority. That is a combination they will not allow. Thats why they tried to destroy Thomas, who was both conservative and Black. Their hatred of this combination is like the hatred of slave owners for escaped slaves. It threatens their way of life.
The fear that the Left has with Estrada is that he will be impossible to oppose for the Supreme Court (because of his ethnicity) if he is confirmed for the Circuit Court.
If he were a white candidate, there would not be a filibuster.

I don't think it was for Thomas being Black because they tried to do to him what they did to Bork who wasn't Black but White. It's about abortion ---not race, if Thomas was pro-abortion, they'd have been much more fond of him.

Didn't hear the show, but I'm sending emails out to every hispanic I know about the Estrada nomination.

Bob, you're really drifting off topic here.
Its the Senate Democrates that are claiming he's not "Hispanic" enough. They are the ones who claim he is a stealth candidate because he isn't a believer in their long-term system of dependancy. It is their party that defines itself by dividing people by race.
Who's playing what card here? Obviously you hate Rush, that's no reason to argue against his ideas on this. If you want to allow this good man's nomination to tank (assuming this forum has anything to say about it) because of something peripheral to his qualifications, you are just as guilty as the democrates as playing any card you can to get what you desire.

I gotta go take a Hillary. You got my vote for best comment of the day!

How is it that the Democrats these days manage
to shoot themselves in the foot
every time they make a move?
It's weird.
Almost as if Bill has left a curse on the party
which has learned all the techniques of Clintonism
but no long possesses the (black) magic.

True, it is about abortion--but they hauled out the sharpest knives to use on Thomas because he had gone off of the plantation.

To echo further, it isn't just that Estrada is a minority. It's because the Democrats feel that appointing minorities is exclusively their domain.
They resent that Bush and Republicans have beaten them to appointing minorities to positions of real power in the government. Estrada is just the latest in the string of "firsts" that Republicans can claim.
The Democrats are blocking Estrada partly so that they can later appoint an Hispanic and then claim to be the first.

The Republicans have done a lot more than "harp on Estrada's ethnicity" as you put it. For the most part they have been "harping" on his track record, his solid endorsements from the legal community, his bi-partisan support and more.
But the Dem's don't care about any of that, all they care about is he's NOT liberal enough ...
So don't be calling the Republicans "racist" for pointing out all of the above that the Dem's should be interested in and aren't, and letting the public jump to their aid based on his ethnicity. If there is anyone "racist" here, it is the public that is making this a major issue on both sides of the aisle ONLY because of his being Hispanic. And since the courts do NOT have a good hispanic representation percentage, they have a right ....

I think the "Stupid Party" title has just been transferred from the GOP to the Rat Party. Give the Pubbies some time, they'll figure out a way to turn that public opinion around.

The over-riding issue is race. The Democrats are seeing their plantation slaves escaping. It is literally a question of their long-term survival as a major party. If they lose their stranglehold on racial minorities, they are through. They cannot allow the Republicans become the party of minority empowerment.
To: TLBSHOW
Congressman Bob Menendez (D-NJ) charged that Estrada is Hispanic, but he's not really Hispanic because his family in Honduras was somewhat successful. What the hell does that make Bill Richardson, the Clinton administration's token Hispanic?

Lots of Cubans are Republicans already, since dems often suck up to Castro.

Maybe they'll try to pass a Fugitive Minority Act like they did back in 1850 so they can have bounty hunters drag the runaways back in chains. ;~((
