Prayer Thread for Yellow Rose of Texas

Long time Freeper Yellow Rose of Texas has recently had an attempted back surgery during which her aorta, which was encased in scar tissue, was nicked and had to be repaired. In a previous prayer thread, many many folks have graciously offered their prayers and comments of encouragement to her. I spoke with Yellow Rose of Texas yesterday and here is the latest!

Her recovery to the previous surgical attempt to do the back surgery has been phenominal. She saw her doctor two days ago on Tuesday. She is doing well enough that he has scheduled her back surgery in a week for TUESDAY FEBRUARY 18, 2003. She had initially been told it would be a few weeks longer to recover, but she has amazed her doctor and he judges that she is ready for the next procedure.

Rose has asked me to thank you each and every one so very much for all your thoughts and prayers on her behalf. She asked me to quote her,

"Thank you so much. I feel each and every one of your prayers. The Good Lord is with me and my family. I dont feel scared at all. This surgery will stabilize my back and it'll all be fine. I feel so protected. I am hoping that this surgery will enable me to once more return to the freeping that I enjoy. It has seemed in my life that if something unusual can happen, it will happen to me. Please pray that the surgery be routine. NO SURPRISES!! LOL!!"

My continued thanks to all who have been posting their prayers and bumps. And many thanks to all who lurk and join us in private prayer.

UPDATE:

I have just called the hospital (around 1:30pm central time.) I spoke with the patient information desk. They gave me a room number. I called the room number and there was no answer. I called the main info desk. They connected me with the nursing station for the floor with her room. I was informed that that particular area is the pre-op preparation floor and that she would not be coming back to that particular room.

Because the computer at the patient info desk is still showing her pre-op room number, the lady I spoke with inferred that Rose is still in the OR/Recovery dept. She will be going to another room after the surgery and recovery.

So, from this, I do not know if the surgery is still ongoing, or if she is in recovery. I plan to call back in a few hours to get more information.

Thank you again so very much for your prayers and keeping the thread bumped.

Our Father,

We do not know what exactly is happening with our friend's surgery and recovery. Sometimes lack of knowledge of events unfolding makes us feel helpless or worried. Father, we ask that you will please remind us with your comforting hand that YOU are in control of things and that we can truly trust you for the care we want for our friend. Let our energy be spent in loving prayer and other service rather than in worry or overconcern. Help us to be a resource for our friend(s) in need.

Father, we ask that you will continue to overshadow Rose and her doctors and nurses. Let all proper protocols be followed in her care. Let there be wisdom and insight granted to those who are handling her case.

Father, enfold her family members and all of us who are waiting word on how this surgery is going to turn out. Thank you so very much for listening, God.

We ask that all of this will be done according to thy will and for any and all of your children for whom our prayers can be helpful. You can and do break the bread of life. If we pray for one, we truly pray for all, for you have united us in Christ.
