I have been calling like crazy. I slowed down and talked to a nice gentleman in Sen Frists office.
He told me that we were going to win this fightand this is how.
They have to give the recess because they want to keep this going. McConnel is recovering from heart surgery, and another Sen. wife is in critical cond. and they have to have 50 Sen. to keep a Quorum on the floor. he would not get into details, but Sen. Frist thinks the time will work in our favor. He said the fight would resume, and we are not backing down, when the Senate gets back in session

I have not been following the thread so if it is redundant
I apologize.

It's a silly vigil, IMO.

Let the Dems win this procedural scrum, go on their little Elvis Presley-like beach blanket holidays, and Bush can just put Estrada on that bench.

If it takes a 4 am vote to make a "recess" a "recess" instead of a time out, let's do it, have Bush sign the order at 4:01 for Estrada and any other nominees who've been stiff-armed to take their positions. I'm confident that the Dems have NO capability to make political hay over the appointments. They'd have to go public with the reasons this paragon of American immigrant faith and righteous success is unfit to serve our judiciary. Fuhgettabout it!

I don't like recess appointments, we all hated them when Clinton was urinating all over our office, but the Dems aren't doing their Constitutional duty, our rights and remedies as citizens who DEMAND our rights to a fast and fair trial and review are being corrupted, and any tool in the shed that can be used to pummel anti-American cockroaches is just OK wit' me.

There are fiscal appropriations and overview obligations that this SENATE has unresolved from LAST FISCAL meeting!!! Let Ralph Nees enjoy his biennial hard-on and just send Estrada to the DC Appeals court in their faces. Recess appoing all the controversial selections, go on a marketing tour with the American Idol winners, and let's funnel Allah's juvenile delinquents into heaven, get control of our borders and do some tax cutting mojo to get this economy smoking again.

When Clinton was rebuffed on Bill Lann Lee ... he just sent him to the Civil Rights Division anyway. Bush needs to bypass these geriatric prima donnas and get the job done. Let the '04 chips fall where they may.

Re the recess time working in our favor -- I heard on the radio that the Republicans plan to do heavy advertising to the Hispanic community over the next week and try to ratchet up the pressure bigtime -- this is not getting a lot of media play outside the Beltway. (I mentioned at the start of this thread that the Estrada story was buried in two lines inside the LA TIMES, for example, under the headline that the Bush White House refuses to turn over documents. Talk about media bias!) The Republicans need a little time to go over and around the mainstream media and get the word on this issue out. Fred Barnes said on Fox that he believes the Republicans are winning and *will* win even with the recess. Holding back a "Hispanic" success story is going to come back to bite the Democrats. Terry Eastland of the Weekly Standard mentioned on Hugh Hewitt's radio show that many people connect the word "filibuster" with trying to prevent civil rights legislation and that that connection will also hurt the Democrats.

I've been gone a couple hours and am catching up on the posts so apologies if any of this is a repeat!
