Any sign of Hillary today. No one has mentioned her presence. We at least get a hair, bags, snickering now comment if she's around.
To: Sacajaweau
Not yet.
To: swheats
I would say Hatch is NOT too happy about Estrada being called a "right wing kook".
To: swheats
Go Orrin Go! He's brought out his verbal Louisville Slugger and is currently going "yard" on the RATS.

I think it was Tom Harkin. He keeps referring to his "friend from Iowa."

"right wing Kook" ???????? Name calling? SLANDER?
Let 'em have it Orrin!
Credibility? Law professors? Can't making a living at the practice of law. HA he Got that right. They teach how to get around the law not about the law.
To: abnegation
That's it Iowa.....I just caught the very end of it before the quorum call.

I'd say that Mr. Hatch's BS meter finally hit critical. Now he's not holding back. I'm rather enjoying this. He's saying wht most Americans are feeling and thinking that pay attention to this stuff.

Orrin is on fire right now. No question about where he stands!

Hatch mentioned five appointed during the bentones years who had NO judiciary experience, nor did anyone try to obtain any memoranda...basically calling them hypocrites.
To: swheats
Sen. Hatch looks refreshed to me. (^:
Sen. Hatch:
"President Clinton was treated very fairly in getting the second (largest) number of nominees through."
"I caution my colleague from Iowa to respect other people."
"I don't want ever again to hear anyone on this floor to call Miguel Estrada a "right-wing kook" - or any other of President Bush's nominees!"
Re. Prof. Bender - "it's beneath the dignity of a law Professor."
"I prefer that there be decent people teaching our children." Talks about the liberal law professors filling our schools.
"Anyone who's gone to law school knows how far left (most) of those people are."
"I have never held a grudge. It's one of my weaknesses as a Senator."
"Personally I love everybody in this body and I think everybody knows that."
"Nor do I want some stupid staffer putting words in the mouth of a Senator...and to make accusations that aren't justified."
"People get emotional sometimes. I may be a little bit myself." He will make allowances for the behavior of his Dem. fellow Senators and asks for their allowances.
"I keep hearing that Miguel has no record. That's a slander. And those who have written it..it's libel."
"There is nobody in any administration that would allow the Senate to muddle around in, make public.. (memos, etc.)."

"I fully expect every pro-choice Senator to filibuster any candidate for the Supreme Court who is not pro-choice."
There's your litmus test and there is who is telling the Democrat men what to do.
I listened to as much as I could stand. Michaelman's remarks about the filibuster occur at the 30 minute mark of Part 1, These people worship abortion, I am not kidding. It is so sick!

Why were these judges treated differently than Miguel Estrada? .Why are we not giving Estrada the same fair treatment (Hatch). The idea that Democrats have to obtain memoranda in order to vote him in just does not hold water.
Creating a new double standard that applies only to Miguel Estrada....from the only Hispanic nominee.
To: Mrs.Liberty
Mine above were direct (as close as I could) Hatch quotes.
To: txradioguy
I'm kinda guessing that the Dems (under the leadership of Hillary) may be sorry they ever started this. They've isolated some of their Hispanic Block, and perhaps some others who are just sickened by their obstructionist action.
Those Dems in heavy Hispanic areas may be out of a job come the next election. Was she worth giving up your job for?? Or is it a matter of no choice since she she is the controller of the purse?? Not only that, no matter what happens, there's repair work to be done.
Now the problem is, could they ever go for a vote and save face??
To: abnegation
The oversell of his "Hispanic" nature is a little unsavory to me ... Orren is overdoing that, and the racial component of his nomination plays into the hands of our Domestic Enemies.
Bush should appoint the man because he is eminently qualified, and he is being denied a fair and deserved vote by the 5th Column dotards and surrogates in the Democrat party. Appoint him. Take his story to the public. Book him on Univision, Meet the Press and schedule program announcements of interest in Latino communities with Mr. Estrada as featured speaker. If the Dems hissy fit like the poncy hairdressers they are, that story will only attain more shine.
At some point, Bruce Lee just knocked out the chump on his way through the gauntlet. He had bigger fish to fry, he had the power and righteous skill, and dancing in stalemate with stiffs didn't move the plot along.
