At their confirmation hearings, judicial nominees have refused to answer questions
about their views on legal issues.

In other words, the Democrats want to know how Estrada has PRE-JUDGED issues.

Guess if Estrada isn't PREJUDICED in the "right ways", he's got to run the
gauntlet with all these Democratic Senators who "value diversity".

Except of thought, of course.


He refused to answer questions, and although he had written many memorandums as
a lawyer in the Justice Department, the White House refused to release them.

Guess that "constitutional", gaffaw, "right to privacy" goes out the window when
a Republican is involved.


I hope this filibuster goes on...and on...and on....

It will be one of the better cases of schadenfreude (sp?) when we
watch Senate Democrats explain why they were pleasuring themselves with this
exercise when Battleship Osama/Saddam/Kim Il Sung steam over the horizon and start
killing people...

This WILL be a winning issue for the Democrats. Their constituency will believe that there must be something in Miguel's closet. Otherwise, the Democrat's would not be going to the mat on this one. They are winning points for "standing on principle" by not approving the nomination of this "right wing extremist

The hard core constituency will always see it this way.
I would estimate that to be about 20 to 25 %. The battle is for the voters in the middle.
