Rank and file Hispanics couldn't care less. This is a loosing issue for us. Bush Sr. got NO bump in black votes from Clarence Thomas being nominated.
We're over playing our hand.

Sen. Dayton has to be the worst public speaker in the world. I guess we didnt have enough debates during is election, other wise I do not think he would have won his primary. No wonder the owners of the Daytons/Target stores changed the flagship stores to Marshal Fields.

loosing=losing. Public education bump.
To: PhiKapMom
Good question. If we find an answer to that, we can stop the Houston area from re-electing Sheila Jackson-Lee like clockwork.

Thanks for the info. We don't want to knock everyone, all the time. It can become a bad habit.

Was told this wasn't a formal filibuster yet but still a threat which is why they are going on recess. Probably a good idea to get the Senators back to their home states and let the Hispanics take care of them.
So the RATs are treating this like regular morning speeches where they ramble on about anything.
It is also another reason that there hasn't been cloture vote!

Let them talk and talk and talk. Later the campaign line will be "While we were faced with the Al-Qaeda death threats against our country, the Democrats were talking and talking and talking trying to keep a Hispanic out of power."

I am beginning to think Pres Bush did just that -- put forth Estrada first because he knew Pickering and Owens were going to draw their ire but why not do a Hispanic first. I think this was planned as well - to use as a wedge issue against the RATs. They might mobilize their Lib base with a filibuster, but they'll see some erosion in the Hispanic vote. If GWB can get a few more votes from Hispanics the next time around, he'll be tough to beat.

Montana has Max baccus big RAT! LMAO! Talking about the Peanut Festival in Dothan, Ala. I used to cover that for the radio station I worked at there!

Great political strategy and response. I would rather you take the time and effort to tell me why I'm wrong.
To: Partisan Hack
This is neutral.
It's only bad because Barbra Streisand ordered her indentured servants to send $1000 to a list of filibuster flunkies who pleased her.
John Sweeney wants to organize all the milling illegal Mexicans into his AFL-CIO dungeon, so he'll illegally funnel $15 or $20 million of an over-the-road truckers' retirement nestegg to Terry "The Turd" McAullife. LaRaza will get a large wire transfer soon after to aid their smuggling regime.
This exercise is a DISPLAY. Period. They've got the votes to drown Estrada, but they don't have the ballsack to take Estrada on in public. The Senate should table the nomination, plot for a recess opening, and W should just promote the guy and say "How do choo like me now? You got sumthin to say? How choo like me Tommy beetch?"
I don't like overreaching by the Executive, we saw what can happen when a penile-deformed sociopath holds that job. But ... this is War, we need to get our Judicial players in position, and Pat Leahy can take his patrician countenance and SHOW HIS DAMN VISAGE to America.
America needs to see Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd, Chuck Shumer and Hillary Clinton too. Don't kid yourself ... the smarties like Lieberman, Kerry, Nelson, Bayh and anyone else who isn't 75, gay, or otherwise corrupted are staying miles away from this tangle.
To: swheats
I hope Rush starts having Hispanic sound-off days. This could get critical for the RATs if their polls start to show alot of erosion.

I was just reminded by a very good friend that this reminded him of the Iranian Hostage Situation. Maybe what we should start labeling these threads (not sure which day this is):
SENATE HELD HOSTAGE

FOFLOL. I'm lovin' it. Hatch has often gotten mad for a brief time, especially with the high-handed way Leahy chaired to Judiciary Committee but he usually has a flare up and then cools down. Not on this one, he has been rollin' .
