Saskatchewan, Feb 11, 03 (LSN.ca/CWNews.com) - In a ruling given virtually no media coverage, the Court of Queen's Bench in Saskatchewan, ruled that a man who placed references to Bible verses on homosexuality into a newspaper ad was guilty of inciting hatred. The December 11, 2002 decision was in response to an appeal of a 2001 Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission (HRC) ruling which ordered both the Saskatoon StarPhoenix newspaper and Hugh Owens of Regina to pay CAN$1,500 to three homosexual activists for publishing an ad in the Saskatoon newspaper quoting Bible verses regarding homosexuality.
The purpose of the ad was to indicate that the Bible says no to homosexual behavior. The advertisement displayed references to four Bible passages: Romans 1, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, on the left side. An equal sign (=) was situated in the middle, with a symbol on the right side. The symbol was comprised of two males holding hands with the universal symbol of a red circle with a diagonal bar superimposed over top.
Justice J. Barclay rejected the appeal ruling: "In my view, the Board was correct in concluding that the advertisement can objectively be seen as exposing homosexuals to hatred or ridicule. When the use of the circle and slash is combined with the passages of the Bible, it exposes homosexuals to detestation, vilification and disgrace. In other words, the Biblical passage which suggests that if a man lies with a man they must be put to death exposes homosexuals to hatred."
Janet Epp Buckingham, Legal Counsel for the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, told LifeSite: "The ruling that a verse from the Bible can be considered to expose homosexuals to hatred shows the danger for Scripture if Bill C-250 passes." Bill C-250, proposed by homosexual activist MP Svend Robinson, would see "sexual orientation" added to hate crime law as a prohibited ground of discrimination.

But If I place an ad in a canadian paper Well at least you can do that in Canada. Apparently not in the US. Economics are more important and if you can't buy an ad , you'll never offend anybody . Even when anybody needs to be offended...

That 'green' light is simply responding to the Gospel (Jn.1:12) or rejecting it (red light)(Jn.3:36).
It has nothing to do with the Canadian attack on the Bible. Taking away your 'Bible' would have no effect on you since you reject it for your Strongs (or some Calvinist opinion) when the readings do not read as you would like them to. (1Tim.2:4, 2Pet.3:9, Jn.3:16, Heb.2:9, Heb.10:39, Rom.5:18, 1Jn.2:2)
Sola Scriptura LOL!

Let's see them call the Torah hate speech, too. I has a lot more discrimination in it than the New Testament. They are. Leviticus 18:22 & Leviticus 20:13 are part of the Torah.

Actually there are small papers would be happy to take your ad. You can buy a sign. You can paint it on your building beside the highway.

You guys are all wrong. Go to this site: www.rcf.org . On the right hand side, click on the link to the 'ad that generated the most hate mail.' This Catholic organization (Roman Catholic Faithful) ran an ad in US WEST COAST newspapers that stated that teenage boys were in danger from homosexual predators (they are), and that the Boy Scouts were right to prohibit homosexual scoutmasters (something scouts in Canada would not be allowed to do, by the way - because you also don't have freedom of association). The ad contained all sorts of stats relating to homosexual molestation of teenage boys. There was a vociferous response, but the ad was published, and was legal. Speech is much, much freer in these United States than in the PC tyranny of Canada.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Hey guys (or girls) -
Go to www.rcf.org, the website of the Roman Catholic Faithful (a group opposed to the homosexualization of the Catholic Church, and to the bishops who have allowed several thousand teenage boys to be sexually molested by homosexual priests). Scroll down on the right hand side to the link referring to the 'article that generated the most hate mail.' RCF published, in several US west coast newspapers, an ad that focused on the molestation of teenage boys by homosexuals. It stated that the Boy Scouts had the right policy in excluding homosexuals from being scoutmasters (something, by the way, that would not be allowed in Canada, which does not have a comparable right of freedom of association). It offered statistics relating to the homosexual molestation of teenage boys. The ad was a full bore broadside against the homosexual community (and right on, in my opinion). The ad was published; RCF broke no law; there was a lot of vituperative mail that RCF received in response. The point? This ad would not have been allowed in Canada. Freedom of speech is not absolute in these United States - but it is a lot freer than in places like Canada or Sweden. Canada is governed by a PC liberal theocratic government that successfully seeks to squelch basic rights that we enjoy in the US. Wake up - Canadians. Liberal facism is on the rise in your country when you can't quote the Bible in a newspaper ad.

Calling the bible a hate book will have long and hard implications for Canada's religious leaders..could be they are "edited " on what passages they preach on..
They will reap what they sow as the perverts start compromising their own children...and the voices that would protect them are silenced..
This is the end result of "multi culturalism"...
To: marshmallow
Well, it might not be long before the US follows suit. The world is calling good evil and evil good. That's biblical, too. M
To: BushMeister
They will, don't worry. It's just a matter of time.
To: Blue Scourge
a violation of Freedom of speech. If the Canadians even have such a freedom. There is complete freedom of speech in Canada.
Canadians are free to say whatever they like
provided, of course, they do not say anything
that might upset someone else
(which, of course, would be a hate crime).

The Canadian government wants to be God, and the Canadians are allowing it to so become. They are falling away...

Canadians are sheep. No, these brainless walking blobs of jellified protoplasm
cannot be compared to any living, breathing organism,
human or animal.

They can sayu they hate us..isn't that about as much freedom as most socialists allow?

I have a tiny Bible that used to be my "field Bible" when I was in the Army. My daughter once asked me what it was for and I sarcastically said that it was going to be the Bible we will use after the government outlaws the Bible. Hmmmmmmm...
