How about a new, realistic label for the Dems.
The New Obstructionist Party.
To: mware
Hatch proved that Schumer lied when he said that. Thanks for that info. Sen. Reid is claiming that Daschle conferred with every Dem. Senator. Three strong Senators broke away from the borg, already.
Quorum call.

Have been trying for 2 hours to get thru to Ron Wyden's office in Portland. All lines have been busy. Finally was able to get an answering machine...which explained to me that if I was receiving this message during regular business hours, then all lines were busy. WELL....DUH!!!!
Anyway....left my message that I wanted Senator Wyden to allow the nomination to come up for a vote. Added my comments re: the issues we are facing at this time as a nation, and that I wanted this filibuster insanity STOPPED. I kept talking until my message time ran out.
I'm planning on waiting a bit (as I didn't leave my name on the message) and calling back....and being counted again as wanting Senator Wyden to vote for Estrada. And if I get the answering machine again....I'll change my voice and leave ANOTHER message. I can play THIS game for hours.

I agree.....televising Congress has changed the dynamic..you wonder how some of the rhetoric of past times would have played in the current environment.....I remember reading an excerpt of a speech by Sen Burton Wheeler, Republican of Montana, I believe opposing FDR's Lend-lease bill....."If passed, it will plow under every forth American boy"......absolutely stunning in its scope..dontcha think..
BTW...re the nascent filibuster, and Frist' threat to hold the senate in cntinuous session.....do you think there's anyplace to find a listing of the AGE of the Senators....I mean, the Dems have Kennedy, Byrd, Hollings.....heck, the "collateral damage" from a filibuster could be very interesting....

Hillary will think of something Maybe they can read from Bill's "little black book?" That ought to keep them busy for a while.

I thought they had to talk nonstop, or a vote could be called. Evidently, the GOP is not yet making them do a "true" fillabuster?

I was really proud of Orrin Hatch also. Amazing how his spine has stiffened since the Republicans took back the Senate (although I did hear him lecturing the Dems on the Judiciary committee in the last two years.)

"Oppps ... Sen Bryd is asking about having to work this weekend"
ROTFLMAO!! I bet behind the scenes there is a lot of grumbling. Sen frist cannot give in, Never!!
To: Mo1
Yes, Reid dissed the ABA. He dissed the President. He's so high up on his imaginary horse that we the people must seem wee.
Term limits!
