My husband's co-workers were reporting that. Hope it's just a freaky rumor and that this NY truck business is nothing serious.

There's been a very long history of people being incorrectly identified as "Middle Eastern" when they weren't, in various terrorism scares (and even actual events, like the Shoe Bomber) since 9/11.

Eastern Indians, Hispanics, even half-Jamaicans. Truth is it's a hell of a lot harder to tell visually than people would like to pretend.

And actually a Pakistani isn't "Middle Eastern" they're South Asian. Pakistan isn't in the Middle East.

There's actually a massive problem with various forms of illegal poaching of various critters for seafood in California, such as abalones, so there's a lot of reason for people to be in boats and evade authorities other than that they're terrorists.

Well, hold on now. That's not as far-fetched as you may think. I believe that in the Detroit area, there was an Islamic scam going with cigarettes, where they would purchase $500,000 worth of cigs in NC and ship them to "safe" storefronts in Detroit (high Islamic concentration). The profits were going to Al Quaida or some other Islamofascist organization.
