what I'd like to know is what made them stop THIS truck; you have to figure most trucks will have packages of some sort......was it because this truck had a M.E. driver?

Don't know, but it's the same kind of white truck that was suppose to be tied to the snipers.

The guy is the key, inspecting the truck "randomly" was the excuse to pick him up.

if every box truck driven by middle easterners in nyc were stopped, the city would grind to far more of a halt than tradffic there usually is. and i don't think that just saying that there's a sawrthy dude in a box truck would trigger this much activity. more likely, it's been under observation for awhile, or there's a more specific tip. whether it bears fruit of course is a different matter. and fwiw, they stopped it right at the toll booths, which are not on the bridge itself, and have taken it to an area owned by the port authority which is even farther from the bridge.

UPDATE:

NY 1 News

The Whitestone Bridge between the Bronx and Queens was temporarily closed in both directions Wednesday morning as police investigated a suspicious truck.

It now appears that the delivery struck was stolen and did not contain any dangerous materials.

Police drove the truck to the Bronx side, and traffic was allowed back on the bridge at about 10:45 a.m., an hour after it closed.

It is unclear whether anybody was taken into police custody.
