WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Americans have apparently heeded the U.S. government's advice to prepare for terror attacks, emptying hardware store shelves of duct tape.
On Tuesday, less than 24 hours after U.S. Fire Administrator David Paulison described a list of useful items, stores in the greater Washington, D.C. area reported a surge in sales of plastic sheeting, duct tape, and other emergency items.

Man, it would be great if the media told the sheeple to go out and buy toilet scrubbers in preparation for terrorism. My toilet scrubber business would finally make a profit.

HA. You should have seen 'Connie Chung' tonight on CNN (FNC not available).
She all but did a 'public service announcement' for the duct tape and plastic sheeting...
Was surreal...then I laughed!

GREENSPAN: WAR THREAT HURTS ECONOMY
WASHINGTON (AP) . Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said Tuesday that uncertainties about a war with Iraq represent the biggest cloud hanging over the nation's struggling economy.
Consumers have been keeping the economy going. But businesses . worried about the war and other economic uncertainties . have been reluctant to make big commitments in capital investment and hiring, forces restraining the recovery, Greenspan said in presenting the Fed's semi-annual economic report card to Congress.
``The intensification of geopolitical risks makes discerning the economic path ahead especially difficult,'' Greenspan said in prepared testimony to the Senate Banking Committee.

I encourage you to try and find the duct tape thread from this afternoon. I have never laughed so hard. I learned, among other things, it is known in the south as Alabama chrome.

Atomic, I went to the grocery store at about 4PM today and the place was packed, even worse than when they predict a snow storm. Since the snow was over well before 4PM and we aren't suppose to get more until Thursday night, I don't think it was the usual snow storm shoppers.

These items, Paulison said, can be helpful after a biological, chemical or radiological attack. Plastic sheeting and duct tape? I would like to see them explain this. Maybe the idea is after a day or two of being sandwiched in this stuff, you no longer have fear as you have suffocated to death?

Truly this is so amazing, when all else fails use duct tape. I wonder if all of the millions of dollars of our tax money used to build very comfortable bunkers for our esteemed senate and house members has one roll of duct tape.
I wonder if they would be willing to trade my roll of duct tape and plastic sheeting for a few nights in their fortified bunker?
