North Korea also rated more unfavorably

Was there ever a time when Americans viewed them otherwise?

I don´t expect you to get a more positive view on the German government, but please of the German people who are willing to do their part in the war against terrorism and still consider the US as a friend.

We remember September 11 when the sailors onboard the German warship said "we stand by you" to the sailors on the USS Winston Churchill. We were very grateful for that, it meant a lot. Your government needs to start thinking more of the West as a whole in a similar fashion. This Europe versus America act is getting very old, very quick.

Many Americans do have sympathy for the individual citizens of Germany, just not the leadership. What Republicans remember well was the utter disbelief and severe frustration we all felt as we suffered 8 years of Clinton speaking "for America" and enacting policy that damaged our country greatly.

Good luck in everything you are doing to change Germany's direction!

>>>I have no ill will toward your country ...
>>>I just hate Herr Schroeder ...

Schroeder was voted into office by the German people. The German people have spoken in that regard. Germany is a nation of socialists to the core and have tremendous levels of ill will towards the US. At the rate Germany and the other "Euroweenies" are going, I wouldn't be surprised if a future conflict arises, between America and the Eurosocialists in Germany, France etc etc etc.

Germany, I think, will pull out of it. Some hits will have to be dished out over Herr Schroeder's comments and stuff, but we're probably going to be able to patch things up with a new non-Schroeder government there.

The big issue, IMHO, is going to be the French. They're doing a very good job of burning bridges and this Turkey matter will not help things.

I hope Germany gets that Conservative woman as her leader. I hear she is a Thatcher clone. Schroederfuhrer is the worst leader of Germany since Wolf.

Don't worry--most Americans understand the difference between what Herr Schroeder says, and what the German people know: America and Germany will stand together.

Viel danken!

Tschuess!

I just hate Herr Schroeder.

Don't forget Fischer...he is even worse, and is striving to increase his influence post-Schroeder!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/839886/posts?page=13 -- Poll: Germans Believe U.S. a Nation of Warmongers

That polls does not help the American perspective of the German people. The difference I see with clinton is that Republicans in Congress were very vocal about their dislike for clinton and opposed his actions. I want someone from the German opposition to stand up and say they are appalled by the actions of their Chancellor in denying defensive measures to Turkey!

I just came from that thread, Germans Believe U.S. a Nation of Warmongers.

The fact that France, Germany and Belgium are opposing another NATO country, in this case, Turkey, is truely appalling. I'm not an expert in the specifics of internal German politics, but I understand human nature/behavior and gerenerally speaking, politics is politics, no matter where you're from. I can see the level of anti-Americanism that exists in German society today and I don't like what I see.

How does one's opinion go down when you think of the Frogs as arrogant, smelly, cheese-eating, surrender monkeys?

Schroeder was voted into office by the German people. The German people have spoken in that regard.

Not quite. The Chancellor is elected by a majority of the Bundestag (Legislature), and is always the leader of either the party that has an absolute majority or the major party that is able to negotiate their way to a majority coalition. The Social Democrats had to negotiate their way to the majority with, among other parties, the "Greens".

Germany is a nation of socialists to the core and have tremendous levels of ill will towards the US.

Agreed in part. Most of that ill will is concentrated in the old East Germans, with a smattering among the westernized "Greens".

At the rate Germany and the other "Euroweenies" are going, I wouldn't be surprised if a future conflict arises, between America and the Eurosocialists in Germany, France etc etc etc.

We have a winner.

Gee, I wonder if France and Germany will be all worried about what Americans think of them. There are far too many Americans who worry what France and Germany think of us.
