[history]
February 10, 2003 -- LET me share with you a great American success story.
A 17-year-old named Miguel Estrada immigrates to this country from Honduras, speaking only a few words of English. He attends Columbia College, making Phi Beta Kappa and graduating magna cum laude, then Harvard Law School, becoming editor of the Law Review.

I support a VOTE on Estrada regardless. Two years is an absurd wait. Still, I'd like to know what makes you think Estrada is pro-life. I'd never vote for a federal judge that did not think Roe v. Wade was bad law. It is terrible law and terrible justice. I have heard Estrada was for abortion, but little details. Do you have any pro-life details?

Obviously you cannot keep hispanic sounding names straight. Why that would be is another question.
Bush's counsel is not Estrada. It is Gonzalez.

bump for Estrada... preemptive filibuster to begin today.
Call your Senators and raise Hell, especially the RATS. Capitol Hill switchboard is 202-224-3121.

Not yet. I think they have agreed to an amount of time for each side. Sessions from Alabama just spoke. Kyl from Arizona is up now.
To: meenie
It's Gonzales who is Bush's counsel, not Estrada!

Kyl just quoted Leahy from 98 and another date when Leahy spoke out against the use of a filibuster to prevent judicial appointments. Busted.
To: leadpenny
Kyl might be my favorite Sen. Certainly much better than that other Sen from AZ...What was his name?

LOL. Grassley is up now. Earlier, I was going to say that Sessions is one of my favorites. He is a former federal prosecutor and, like Kyl, takes no bull. There is a whole second tier of Republican Senators who I believe are the future. Grassley is speaking to this idea that the dems are saying Estrada is not Hispanic enough.
To: leadpenny
oh, I called Sen Nelson from FL today and an aide said he didn't know how he would vote. Well, the vote is today... I told him if he votes no, then to at least oppose a fillibuster. I think Graham is still recovering from surgery so he'll probably miss the vote.

It will be delightful to see the RATS gut themselves on this issue.

bump for Estrada
To: votelife
The Senate Calendar says the next vote will not be before 5:15 pm on Monday. I don't know if that's the Estrada vote or something else as it doesn't specify... I'd like to see them vote on him and get on with the show.....
I think McConnell of KY is out also with surgery [bypass]... What about Laughtenburg, he had some surgery a few days ago also.

It will be delightful to see the RATS gut themselves on this issue. Yes, if they lose. But never forget that the rats are the "elite folk destined to show the rest of us how to govern", and to govern from the bench is their last refuge.
They will not give up on the judges because they themselves know how long judicial appointments have sway in the control of the law.

The Honorable Senator Edward M. Kennedy, a paragon of virtue, has taken the floor.
