ANNAN: 'DON'T GO IT ALONE' (VOMITING TILL YOU DIE ALERT)

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has warned the United States against launching a unilateral attack on Iraq.

He argued that action under a UN umbrella would have greater legitimacy and better odds of success.

In an address marking the 310th anniversary of William and Mary College, Annan stressed that force should be used only as a last resort.

But if the UN Security Council concludes, after a key report by UN inspectors due on Friday, that Iraq is not disarming as required by council resolutions, "the council must face up to its responsibilities," he said.

"When there is strong UN leadership, exercised through patient diplomatic persuasion and coalition-building, the United Nations is successful.

"The United Nations is most successful to all its members, including the United States, when it is united and works as a source of collective action rather than discord.

"The broader our consensus on Iraq, the better the chance that we can come together and deal effectively with other burning conflicts in the world, which cause untold suffering and which urgently need our attention - from Israel and Palestine to Congo and Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), not to mention our efforts to stabilize Afghanistan," he said.

Saying the US is going it "alone" is vaguely insulting to the us and the Australians too. What, did we suddenly stop being separate countries or something?

ah, yes... the old digitus impudicus... the inveterate and eternally appropriate response to gassy sphincters like Annan.

Annan needs America for the UN to be legitimate more than we need the UN. Godspeed Mr. President.

Commie Kofi is ready to take his place on the dung heap of history, right next to Neville Chamberlain.

"THE GAME IS OVER."

Did I just dream that one of Sadaam's bodyguards with his family had been snatched by Mossad?

Just to re-emphasize, Kofi:

That's TWENTY-SIX countries from FOUR continents. Hardly unilteral.

And opposing these 26, we have - let's see - France, Germany, Cuba, Libya, Commie China .....

Good vs. Evil. What could be simpler?

Not a single resolution condemned the French action. What is ironic is that Kofi is from Ghana - the Cote d'Ivoire is his "neighbourhood" so to speak. Yet he apparently doesn't care to restrain some naked "neo-colonialism" going on - where France is imposing a "peace settlement" to the detriment of Christians there in favour of the Muslims.

I begin to suspect that Annan might be worried that the expanding and extremely REAL and FUNCTIONAL North Atlantic Treaty Organization shall render the evver-ineffectual so-called "United Nations" a so evident paper tiger that it shall be disbanded, or booted from its cozy digs in New York City for some pesthole in equatorial Africa or the dingy and stifling Middle East...
Here's hoping!

There's a new definition of 'unilateral' these days. It now means "any action taken without the sanction or direct participation of France and Germany."

Marxist Clintonian - "Take a lie and repeat it over and over as often as possable. Eventually, people will begin to believe it."

I took it as a insult to every Country that has signed on with this Coalition. My first thought was "who does he (Annan) think he is?" (sanitized version) Great Britain has been on board from Day One so it has NEVER been go it alone for the United States -- it has been a partnership unless Annan doesn't recognize the Revolutionary War!

This is the mantra right out of the Clinton playbook that has been touted by the Clinton DemocRATs, our liberal media, and now Annan. I swear the Clintons wrote his speech.

I'm fed up with the UN in general. They commit idiocies like letting Libya chair the Committee on Human Rights, yet think they are intelligent enough to lecture the rest of us. Please, Kofi, just go away, you horrid little man.

Regards, Ivan
