Chief Moose (Sniper Investigation) Backs Three Gun Bills In Annapolis (Maryland)

Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose, known for leading the sniper investigation, voiced support in Annapolis Thursday for three new gun bills.

One would refine the definition of banned "assault weapons" to include specific military features. Supporters say it would close a loophole that allows gun manufacturers to skirt current laws.

"These weapons have no real use in our neighborhoods," Moose said. "The rapid-fire weapons do not improve the livability for the citizens of the state of Maryland."

Another bill would require owners to notify authorities if they lose a gun. Chief Moose said police waste valuable time tracking down the owner of the gun used in a crime, only to be told it was lost or stolen.

"Generally, we report all of our valuables when they are lost or stolen," Moose said. "So why not the same for guns."

The third bill would expand Maryland's ballistics fingerprinting system to include long rifles. Maryland currently only "fingerprints" handguns by recording a bullet fired from the gun into a state database.

Governor Ehrlich's press office released a statement after the event:

"Governor Ehrlich has directed State Police Superintendent Norris to review these three anti-crime bills for an assessment of their effectiveness. If he is convinced these initiatives can directly reduce violent crime in Maryland he will give them strong consideration."

The bills are scheduled for hearings later this month. Chief Moose may testify on their behalf.

Moose, Ph.D did not slow down the investigation of the Beltway Sniper Case by more than a week or two, at most. P.C. Moose, Ph.D was relaxed and communicative at Press Conferences, guarding vital information carefully, lest it fall into the wrong hands among the public or other departments. This worked out well, because given more time, the perpetrators were definitely able to establish their guilt beyond the shadow of a doubt. He did issue many accurate statements, too. Such as, "I haven't got a clue."

I believe in strict gun control for P.C. Moose, Ph.D. Guns are mechanical devices and he may be injured attempting to operate one, thereby depriving American Law Enforcement of our answer to Inspecteur Clousot.

What happened to our plan to send P.C. Moose, Ph.D. to the war-torn Congo to help them establish a politically correct police force?

Well, yes. Have you ever known a Ph.D. who had any common sense? Having a Ph.D. simply means that you wanted to hear a few more years of liberal college professor's rantings. Yes- Though I understood that people wanted to support the 'guy in charge' while we were in the middle of the crisis, I tried to convince many people here that just because he was a cop did not mean he was one of us. Many just would not believe it. I believed all along he would try to ride this to a congressional seat, and I still do. I lived in the Portland area while he was chief there, I can say without a doubt - those here will NOT like his politics and he will NOT be a friend to conservatives.

I don't have the reference handy, but I seem to recall that the snipers' car was stopped at TEN of the shootings, the tag was run and the snipers were released because MOOSE said the snipers had to be white.

I have heard of his capabilities as a reserve USAF Security Policeman........SFS troops I have spoken too say the guy is an blithering comical idiot. A dangerous idiot that tries to bring civilian BS to a military unit that's primary mission is resource protection versus a secondary "law enforcement" aka NCO club or domestic fight breaking tasks .

Young troops eat the stuff up as they don't like riding the wire but know it has to be done and done well and liked to watch Moose get the Senior NCO's upset while disrupting SOP with what "he thinks" the job should be versus what it really is.

I only repeat this as 3rd hand info . I have never seen the product of PC POS in person........but he's added to my socialist gun grabbing watch list.....the one that is getting very long sadly.
