Macabre fashion statement
US Marines on exercise in Kuwait have been seen wearing some unusual accessories - skull masks.
US soldiers have been wearing a range of designer ski masks to protect their eyes from the desert sand.
The Grim Reaper skull mask was spotted alongside more trendy designs from the likes of Scott and Oakley.
Face masks are sometimes supplied as part of a soldier's kit, but many prefer to buy their own.
Civilian clothing, purchased privately, is often better made and more comfortable.
Soldiers in the British Army and Royal Marines also like to supplement their issued kit with other gear such as hiking boots.
In the Falklands, British military boots could not cope with the wet, marshy ground.
And in the Gulf, they fell apart in the desert heat.

This would also be appropriate fashionware for when the Marines storm North Korea since much of their country is skeletal from starvation. The Marines will blend right in because they will just look like other North Koreans.

If the Gyrenes wear "smiley face" masks, can we call 'em "The Merry Reapers"?

In the Falklands, British military boots could not cope with the wet, marshy ground. This astounds me. I thought much of Britain was wet, marshy ground!!

Have you seen the way cool new USMC-only camouflage uniforms?
And the USMC has ditched the spit shined boot, and is now issuing brown suede-out boots!

Much of Britian is wet ground, but not particularly marshy, if that makes any sense?

The more I learn about this new young breed of Marines..the more I wish I had been born about 40 years later...
These kids have the will, ability and weapons to project nightmareish power..... We can be very proud of them, and I hope the country will show them the support it failed to give us old farts in our time of need.
My God watch over them and return them to their loved ones and to America...
I learned long ago to believe in prayer....pray for them.
