Going underground are you, Saddam? The B61-11 nuclear bunker buster--an entirely new mini-nuke that has a 5 kiloton yield and is
designed to drive into the ground like a spear--is being earmarked for you. The nuclear detonation underground wreaks serious havoc on anything in the vicinity,
causing local earthquakes that could rip hardened underground targets in half.

Well, it's a good thing he doesn't have chemical weapons.

It will be pretty hard to catch the Army not expecting NBC attacks. In Desert Storm we wore our NBC suits pretty much non-stop from the time the air war started until the ground war was over.

Your suggestions are interesting as to how Saddam may start things up. However, last night on I think Fox,the Editor in Chief or UPI ( he had a sort of English sounding accent and a sort of French sounding name) was asked about this. He said that some source reported that Saddam's circle suggested that he strike us first..to which Saddam is reported to have said no to that and when we do hit him and his lot, then he will unleash all he has all around the world. This I took to mean the Bin Laden gang of thugs will start their own variety of terror right along with Saddam. This whole world situation is just dynamite.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeoottttt This may happen a lot sooner than we think.Actually, this is happening a lot later than I thought.

In other words, his survival strategy is the same as our survival strategy. Mutual Assured Destruction.

Actually, this is happening a lot later than I thought.Indeed. Don't hold your breath waiting for this to be over. We are still a long way from a resolution.

Couple of points---If Saaddammnn is releasing a hold on local commanders use of WMD he is admiting that he will not have control {bug out time?} and GWB`s statement that any Iraqi commander that uses these weapons will be a war criminal now has new meaning

"Bush and Powell have already gone much too far revealing our intelligence capabilities. What did showing the photos and the intercepts to the UN do?"President Bush felt that morally he had to "make the case" before we go at Iraq. Those who believed before, still do. Those who didn't, may never believe because they fear action or hate America.

You can't count on cloud cover far enough in advance to plan and execute the kind of wide scale air campaign this is gonna start as. The "frag" is going to involve hundreds of aircraft form Missouri, to Diego Garcia to carriers in the Gulf.

Yes and more specifically, Baghdad. Same location geographically. Read Jeremiah 51 and see what it says.
I want to repeat that God has NOT spoken to me about this, and I'm certainly NOT a prophet. Just wondering.

The president said the United States would endorse a second Security Council resolution, which would presumably declare Iraq in material breach and authorize the use of military force. And I think that Bush and Powell both know full well that at least the French, and possibly the Russians or Chinese, will veto the resolution. It is already evident that the UNSC has made itself irrelvant -- this will just formalize and finalize that judgment.
I suspect that as soon as the French exercise their veto, a deluge of classified information will be released proving that the French (and Germans) were primary suppliers for Saddam's WMD program, and have violated sanctions big time. The point will be that that the French, Germans, etc. cast their negative votes because they are hopelessly compromised, and by extension, the entire UNSC.
This will be the effective end of the UN and of NATO.
To: MadIvan
Well that's that then - blast them into the Stone Age. Were you referring to the Iraqi's, the French, or both?
To: johnb838
I'm pretty sure we would love for him to take the first shot. Then we don't have to consult wif nobody 'bout nuffin. Now I think you are getting very close to the actual game plan. Keep increasing the pressure until he either snaps and goes into exile or he snaps and strikes the first blow. Either way, we win.
