Large-scale searches for Modesto's Laci Peterson ended weeks ago. Now her family is trying to get the ball rolling again.

Wednesday, Peterson's family announced that it is organizing volunteer searches on the remaining three Saturdays in February: the first is set for this weekend along the Delta- Mendota Canal.

We know of one life insurance policy for @$250g; I wonder if there was more than one policy.

One report said she had been a substitute teacher prior to her pregnancy; would she be eligible for any benefits, such as unemployment or disability checks? If so, are the proceeds of any benefits being used by Scott? Could any checks be directly deposited to a bank account?

I know car dealerships want to move cars, but how the heck did Scott qualify for this truck purchase, when he is currently not working?

In Scott's wildest dreams, I don't imagine he ever thought this case would generate this much nationwide public scrutiny...

What sort of person goes out of the country when his wife is missing and could even be somewhere giving birth--which would finally lead to her discovery? This guy has the IQ of a paper clip.

He's coming apart at the seams. Look for him to hire one of OJ's mouthpieces--if he can afford it. Fortunately, there are plenty of OJ lawyers to choose from. That Shapiro, he gets lots of the business. I think he just knows a lot of people who are possible future murderers.

Good thoughts! As for Scott's leaving the hotel so soon, yes, maybe he knew that after the latest Rocha press conference, the media types would immediately be calling him for "his reaction." ("Reached in Guadalajara, Mexico, Scott Peterson's reaction was: 'No hablo ingles.'")

And Scott's saying the due date was Feb. 16. Yes--had to move the baby's due date back b/c it conflicted with the trade show!

One of my friends was due on Halloween, and she was DETERMINED not to have a Halloween baby, so on October 28 she cleaned the entire house (including dusting the tops of the ceiling fans), walked the dog around their usual route four times, and ran up and down the stairs several times.

Not a thing. Baby showed up on October 31, just as scheduled.

P.S. Also, it's possible that Scott is still at that hotel, but that the staff have been instructed to tell callers that he has checked out.

Either way, it is apparent that Scott wants his anonymity back! Ah, the lot of the "celebrity" is not a happy one!

Scott admits to Rowlands of KTVU that he did try to sell the house. "Who the hell would want to live in a house where your wife was kidnapped from"-SP on phone from Mexico.
The car thing was explained as "planned on getting a new one anyway and I needed a truck". He called Rowlands yesterday from Guad.. Mexico.

BWAHAHAHAHA! I retract my statement about Scott's apparently wanting his anonymity back. If this ignoramus is calling reporters to "explain" everything that is reported about him, he's not hampered by his new notoriety--he's enjoying it!

Now the police need to put this tendency of Scott's to good use. They need to collude with some reporter and put out some story that will REALLY outrage him. How's about they put out something like.......oh, I dunno...how's about this:
Suppose someone alleges that Scott "knew the baby wasn't his b/c he's been impotent for over a year."

I find it interesting the family announces plans to resume the search and specified specific areas and Scott P vanishes, checks out of the hotel. I also find it interesting his mother did not mention where he was when interviewed by dan abrams.

Yes, of course he is or a nearby one. He must attend the seminar or he's on the run. I, also, think you're right about him instructing the desk to divert attention by saying he "checked out" rather than saying he is accepting no calls. Once again his plan backfires. Now everybody thinks he IS on the run. Classic.
