God is saving the lightning for later, I guess. Chuckie's accusing us of making personal attacks.

Oh, please! Chuckie should read the Constitution again. It would tell him that he is no longer a member of the majority. "Will of the people" and according to the Constitution.

See today's LAT Op Ed section (it is pointless to post a link -- it's a site that needs registration).

Victimhood politics are by definition exclusionary and thus disqualifies anyone for truly higher judgeships (I have no explanation for the 9th Circuit). Only level-headed people with the ability to reason can make it this far, but level-headed people oppose holding peopledown with victimhood politics.

I think Kennedy wasn't planning on speaking, but heard Orrin's passionate defense of Miguel and attack on Bender. Kennedy's now defending Bender.

Why is Kennedy co-chairing the judicial committee?

I don't want to know.

Ted mentioned civil rights, enviral law...leftist causes. That explains a lot. How dare Kennedy imply that Estrada wouldn't follow the law...or that President Bush puts special interests first. Kennedy's protecting his labor union power. Did he miss a big leftist special interest group? Ted thinks that the DC court is Dem. territory.

Freepers, please call your Senators and tell them you support the nomination of Miguel Estrada to the DC Circuit court. Our good guy Senators have been under attack from the borg and appreciate our support - and call the Dems., too! They get all flustered when Republicans rally.

The simple fact is that this is all Chuck has in his bag of crap in order to keep from getting swamped in the press by the Beast.

Aside from his annual "release oil reserves" line, he's got nothing offer. I remember when he was debating D'Amato in 1998 and he said, "I'm a legislator, I like to legislate," which translates into "I like to enforce my view of the Constitution onto the people in the form of written law." D'Amato was railing him so hard on missing so many votes in the House that he missed the chance to expose him.

Living in NY, I hope Rudy decides to take a crack at him in 2004 because he is useless.
